Memorundum for Demand for an Over-Pass/ Fly-over at Dauji railway crossing at Old Goa

In view of the burden of suffering endured by commuters travelling via their own vehicles or
hired vehicles along the Dauji road at Ella Old Goa, we the members of Cumbharjua Block
Congress Committe along with senior member of GPCC Adv. Varad Mardolkar demand the
Government of Goa to develop an over-pass/ fly-over bridge at the maned railway crossing
at Dauji, Old Goa on a priority basis.

It is in our knowledge that the file for the development of the project is pending clearance
for acquisition of land and other approvals at the Office of the Collector of North Goa. There
is also a technical clearance pending at the office of the GSIDC due to lack of funds or lack
of motivation or carelessness by the Ministry of Finance headed by the Chief Minister of
Goa.

On behalf of the Commuters of Dauji road Old Goa, we demand that the Government of
Goa take up this project on priority basis for the sake of Public Interest.

Memorundum for Demand for Ease of flow of traffic at the mouth of the
culvert over railway line near SFX residential complex, Old Goa.

In view of the traffic jams caused at the NH 4A near SFX II residential complex, opposite
Edmar Building, Old Goa due to buses halting illegally to pick up passengers at the mouth
of the culvert passing over the railway line.

It has come to our notice that many a times the trains slow down or temporarily halt under
the culvert between Old Goa and Corlim along the NH 4A near SFX II residential complex
and Edmar Building. During these temporary halts, passengers get down from the trains
and make their way to the main road by climbing up to the side of the culvert. Once these
train passengers/ pedestrians reach the road at the top of the culvert on NH 4A, these
pedestrians now wait at the mouth of the culvert to board the passing privately operated
buses. This illegal halt by the buses creates traffic jams and long irritated queues of
vehicles honking impatiently along the highway.

We as members of Cumbharjua Block Congress Committe along with our senior GPCC
leader Adv. Varad Mardolkar demand that this illegal habit by bus operator end by
permanently stationing traffic police near the SFX II residential complex at the mouth of the
culvert on a priority basis for the sake of Public Interest.

Memorundum for Demand for Speed Breakers at the Sao Pedro - Divar island Ferry
boat junction.

In view of the regular traffic jams and the danger faced by pedestrians who reach Sao Pedro
from Divar via the Ferry boat and cross the road to board buses accross the road on their
way to panaji. This juction has been legally demarcated by the Government for docking of
the Ferry boat plying the route between Sao Pedro and Divar. It is also demarcated as a bus
stop by the government of Goa for passenger who commute by buses and by ferry boat to
and from Divar island. However, even after many years and several demands by the
pedestrian commuters, the government has either failed or refused to develop speed
breakers for vehicles plying the road.

At one point the government had developed rumblers at the juction on both lanes througth
the PWD, but the rumblers deployed were totally ineffective leading to minor accidents
involving pedestrians and two wheeler vehicles. This major inconbvinience and lack of
infrastructure could someday result in a tragedy. Is the government waiting for a major
accident to occur? Who would be the unfortunate to pay the price for this government's
oversight/ ignorance???

We as members of Cumbharjua Block Congress Committe along with our senior GPCC
leader Adv. Varad Mardolkar demand that this Government develop speed breakers on both
lanes of the road before entry of this junction on a priority basis for the sake of Public
Interest.
