Hello, My name is Foysal Ahmed Afi. This letter is an explanation of my study hiatus.

On
August 3, 2020, I was supposed to take my Higher Secondary School Certificate exams.
However, this was postponed owing to the horrible COVID-19 outbreak in Bangladesh. All
candidates were automatically passed based on their scores on their previous secondary school
diplomas when our exam was postponed to November 2020. I got my grade report at the start of
2021, and I started getting ready for the entrance exams for public universities. Midway through
the mid-2021 admissions test, I was given the opportunity to enroll in a reputable college.
Unfortunately, I was not able to choose computer science as my subject.
I then made the decision to pursue an education abroad and took the IELTS exam in the first
week of 2022, but my score was incredibly low. Then, three months later, I retook the IELTS
exam and received a passable score. I then began to apply to several American institutions, and I
received offer letters from many of them. was admitted to Queen's College at The City
University of New York for August 2022 in my chosen subject of computer science (Fall intake).
However, I was unable to obtain the interview date from the American Embassy due to a slight
delay in accepting my entrance. I then asked for an admission deferment in the middle of August
2022 and was accepted until January 2023 as a result (Spring intake).
