ADMISSION, REGISTRATION PROCEDURE AND RETENTION POLICIES

ADMISSION POLICIES
2.1. Entrance Requirement (Freshman Applicants)

2.1.1 The student applicant must take the CSU College Admission Test and be
able to garner at least two (2) Average (A) ratings in the four (4) areas of
CSU-CAT and two (2) Below Average (BA) ratings preferably with Stanine
of 3.
2.1.2 He/she must have an average grade of 83% or better and must not have
a grade lower than 80% in his report card. However, if the student
applicant graduated from an identified performing secondary school
(public or private) and/or from a Science high school or section, he/she
must have a general average of 80% or better. (The complete list of
performing secondary schools and secondary schools with reputable
science sections comes from the office of the DepEd Region 02.)
2.1.3 He/she must undergo and pass the interview.
2.1.4 He/she must be physically, mentally and morally fit.

2.2. Residency Requirements


2.2.1 A student is given maximum of 6 years within which to finish the course.
2.2.2 A student may be allowed to have longer residency in the college for
justifiable reasons.
2.2.3 If there is failure to comply with the residency, the student concerned is
required to take refresher subjects (9 units).
2.2.4 In case that the student is affected by the change of the curriculum, the
student is required to follow the new curriculum. However, subjects taken
in the old curriculum shall be credited correspondingly.

2.3 Transfer Students


2.3.1 Applicants for transfer from other Universities or colleges must take CSU-
CAT to evaluate their ability to cope with the academic work in the
College of Teacher Education.
2.3.2 Only students from an accredited teacher education institution could be
admitted to transfer on a case to case basis.
2.3.3 A student who dropped from a college because of scholastic
delinquency shall not be admitted to the college unless the evaluation of
the Dean or the Program Chair person concerned thereat, and the
student’s aptitude and interest will qualify him in another major in which
he/ she may be admitted on probation for one semester.
2.3.4 Transfer student from any Board Course with one failed mark in a major
subject (not a general education subject) shall be given a chance to
enroll in the college.
2.3.5 Transfer students must submit transfer credentials, certification of grades
duly signed by the registrar, honorable dismissal and police clearance.
2.3.6 Students that fall short of unit prescribed in the CoEd curriculum shall be
repeated.
2.3.7 A subject completed from other college, the description which is different
from the required subject may be credited provided its content has been
thoroughly evaluated by a committee.
2.3.8 Those who fabricate or manufactured data in their application for transfer
and who submitted fake documents are subject for dismissal.
2.1. 4 Foreign Students
2.1.4.1 Foreign students may be admitted to any academic program of the
college subject to the same requirements as for Filipino nationals.
2.1.4.2 They must qualify in the language medium of instruction.
2.1.4.3 Their admission hinges on a reciprocal management existing between
the foreigner’s country and the Philippines.

2.1.5 Non- residence Students


2.1.5.1 Cross- enrollees must present a permit from their resident school duly
approved by the Dean allowing them to enroll specified subject/s at a
specified term.
2.1.5.2 No cross- enrollee shall be admitted for enrolment if the specified
subjects are offered in his resident school.

2.2 Retention Policies


2.2.1 A qualifying examination is administered to incoming sophomore students.
If the student failed in the qualifying examination, he/ she is advised to
shift to another program in the university.
2.2.2 A student receives a warning if at the end of the semester; he/ she got
grades of 75% in three subjects or one failure in his/ her academic loads.
2.2.3 A student is placed on probation for one semester if he/ she incurred two
failures in his/ her subject. The student is advised to shift to another course
if he/ she failed to improve his/ her grades.
2.2.4 Academic loads of students under probation may be reduced to 21 units
if deemed necessary.
2.2.5 Any student who incurred three failures is dismissed from the college
however; he is allowed to shift to another program in the university.
2.2.6 The students must not have been black listed or suspended from classes.
2.2.7 Only graduating students are allowed to cross- enroll subjects not offered
during the semester, only in an accredited teacher education institutions,
to carry a maximum load of 21 units.

2.3 Policies and Guidelines on Student Teaching


2.3.1 The student teacher must have a satisfactory academic
performance/standing.
2.3.2 He/she must have finished all the subjects enrolled in as prescribed in the
teacher education curriculum. However, one behind subject could be
considered provided it is a basic subject and it would not be in conflict
with the actual practice teaching schedules.
2.3.3 He/she must undergo medical check-up prior to off-campus practice
teaching. (He/she must be physically and mentally fit for practice
teaching.
2.3.4 He/she must have attended at least 96 percent of the total number of
hours during practice teaching. (However, absences could be
reconsidered for written justifiable reasons and proofs. Provided further
that additional requirements like reaction paper, research work etc. will
be complied on.)
2.3.5 He/she must take practice teaching once only. (However, second timer
will be reconsidered for written justifiable reasons.)
2.3.6 He/she must attend required conferences, trainings and/or seminar-
workshops sponsored/conducted by the College, especially when its
purpose is to develop holistically the personality of the student teachers
and to enrich the student teaching program.
2.3.7 He/she must demonstrate acceptable behavior during the practice
teaching.
2.3.8 A student teacher who committed any misconduct like immorality, drug
pushing, drunkenness and insubordination shall be dealt with accordingly.
The case shall be brought to the college grievance committee for action.
2.3.9 A pregnant student teacher is advised to go on leave for the welfare and
health of both the mother and the child as well as to guarantee efficient
and effective performance in the field.
2.3.10 He/she must submit all requirements on or before a week after the last
day of his/her practice teaching in his/her cooperating school/college.

2.4 Policies and Guidelines for the LET Comprehensive Review


2.4.1 All student teachers are required to enroll the LET Comprehensive Review.
2.4.2 A student teacher should get 75% or better in order to pass the pre- board
exam.
2.4.3 Failure to pass the pre-board exam means deferment from graduation.
2.4.4 Any student teacher who failed in the pre board exam is required to take
the Summer LET Review and must pass the pre-board examination.
2.4.5 Members of the graduating class are required to participate in the
Summer LET Review to guarantee a good performance in the Licensure
Examination for Teachers and as a requirement for the signing of
clearance.
