Similarities
• Both are used to assess students knowledge.
• Both use similar test items like matching, choice, true or false......
• Both are usually given in the classroom and used to assess students mastery
of course content.
Differences

Classroom test standardized test

Made by the course teacher prepared by a group of experts.

May be given variable amount of time. is given a fixed amount of time.

Learned in a short period of time. comprehensive and measured what


students have learned in a given
period of time like a year or a semester.

Determines passing of that course. determines collage readiness.


It is not standardized. it is based on the standard set.

3.write the advantages of criterion referenced over norm


referenced evaluation and vice versa.

• The advantage of criterion referenced over normreferenced is that it


compares the students hard work and the students grade against pre
established criterion, which means if the student worked hard and got a
grade it wont be compared to the grades of the other students which
reduces competition and unfairness in grading a students work.
• The advantage of norm based criterion over criterion referenced is that it
compares the learners performance to the average grade achieved in the
class that the specific leearner attends in, which means it hepls the learner
to score good if the test is hard and the class gets low marks it is going to be
compared to the highest grade that is achieved so it wont be so bad for the
learner relativley.

4.briefly discuss the similarities and differences between


continious assessment and continious testing.

Similarities
• Both are focused on evaluating the learner's knowledge.
• Both are continuously applied.

components of it
