Using Materials at Home and in School

● We use different matter as materials in our homes and schools. These materials
are helpful in our daily lives.
● If we do not use and handle materials properly, it may cause us harm.

● Therefore, we need to know how to properly use and handle materials to avoid
accidents and to ensure safety.

SOLID

● Do not play with sharp and pointed objects.

⮚ Never point these at other people because these objects can cause
injuries.
⮚ Also, make sure to keep these materials properly.

● Use electrical appliances properly.

⮚ Make sure to turn appliances off and pull their plugs when not in use. If
mishandled, these can cause electric shock or can cause fire.
● Always check the expiration date of the food before you eat them, and of
medicine before you take them.

LIQUID

● Be careful around liquids that you are not familiar with

● Do not drink or taste such liquids for they may be poisonous and bad for the
health.
● When washing dishes, make sure to wash off detergent, dishwashing liquid, or
soap thoroughly to avoid mixing it with food and to avoid intake of these liquid
materials.
● Do not play with flammable liquids (e.g. rubbing alcohol, gasoline, kerosene)

● Immediately wipe any spilled liquid materials to avoid accidents.

GAS

● Make sure to close the valve of the Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) tank after use.
● Avoid inhaling gases you are unfamiliar with, especially those with awful smell.

SUMMARY
Knowing how to properly use and handle solid, liquid, and gas materials helps in avoiding
accidents and ensuring safety.
