About the position


Do you have a Master's degree in Business Administration with very good results and wish to immerse yourself in the subject through
independent research? If yes, you might be the person we are looking for!

NTNU Business School is looking for an ambitious person who wishes to take a PhD in Business Administration. Relevant subjects for the PhD
candidate are management accounting and control, financial accounting, finance, business analytics, marketing, organization, strategy and
management.

The PhD position will be affiliated with one of the research projects described below. For the research projects in NTNU Center for Sport
Management Research and in Center for management and innovation in public sector it will be necessary to master a Scandinavian language
both orally and in writing, while this is not a requirement for the projects affiliated with Center for Real Estate and Environmental Economics.

NTNU Center for Sport Management Research

For this position, it is necessary to master a Scandinavian language orally and in writing. See the Norwegian announcement text for details

Center for Real Estate and Environmental Economics

Sustainable Housing is a research project with the ambition to contribute to the reduction of individual's climate footprint by contributing to more
sustainable housing and transport solutions. The sharing economy and collaborative consumption are central themes in the project.

Research project Big data in real estate finance intends to use automated valuation models (AVM) and Explainable AI (XAI) related to the

Center for management and innovation in public sector

The Health Personnel Commission's report (NOU 2023: 4) identifies a gap between future labor capacity and the need for doctors and nurses.
We are looking for a research fellow who will study how we can facilitate production and use of management information that can contribute to
increased efficiency within health services. Studies in both municipal health services and in health enterprises may be of relevance. For this
position, it is necessary to master a Scandinavian language orally and in writing.

PhD candidates are given the opportunity to travel to network with other researches in the field and to participate in international research
conferences.

Candidates completing their master's degree in the Spring 2023 are welcome to apply.

We are flexible when it comes to the starting date, but you must have completed your Master's degree before you can start in the position.

Duties of the position


As a PhD candidate you develop a relevant research proposal under the guidance of a supervisor during the first three months of the
employment period. An approved proposal including a project plan is a prerequisite for admission to the PhD program and further employment
as a PhD candidate. The final thesis should contribute to the development of new scientific knowledge and meet international standards in the
field. You are expected to contribute to international conferences and publish in international peer reviewed journals.

Required selection criteria
The PhD position's main objective is to qualify for work in research positions. The qualification requirement is completion of a Master’s degree
or second degree (equivalent to 120 ECTS) with a strong academic background in Business Administration or equivalent education with a
grade of B or better in terms of NTNU’s grading scale. Applicants with no letter grades from previous studies must have an equally good
academic foundation.

In addition, you must have good written and oral English skills. Due to the teaching duties, candidates with skills in Scandinavian languages will
be chosen if the proposed project is affiliated with NTNU Center for Sport Management Research or Center for management and innovation in
public sector.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants and national
guidelines for appointment as PhD, postdoctor and research assistant.

Salary and conditions


PhD candidates are remunerated in code 1017, and are remunerated at gross from NOK 501 200 per annum before tax, depending on
qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2 % is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

The period of employment is normally four years with required teaching duties. In some cases the position can be made three years long
without additional required duties.

Appointment to a PhD position requires admission to the PhD programme in Economics and Management. As a PhD candidate, you undertake
to participate in an organized PhD programme during the employment period. A condition of appointment is that you are in fact qualified for
admission to the PhD programme within three months.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts
relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and
attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must
assume that there may be changes in the area of work.

It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution on a daily basis.

master’s thesis. Joint works will be considered. If it is difficult to identify your contribution to joint works, you must attach a brief
description of your participation.
