STUDENTS SHOULD’NT BE REQUIRED TO WEAR SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Definiton
The majority of schools throughout the world have uniforms for children to wear to school.
Uniforms are an identity that differentiates one school from another or primary to secondary
level. The history of school uniforms, which began in England in 1222. In a journal written by
the Archbishop of Canterbury, school uniforms at that time were called “cappa clause”.
Modern school uniforms only began in England in the 16 th century when poor children
attending Christ’s Hospital Boarding School wore blue robes and yellow stockings. President
Clinton said “If it means that teenagers will stop killing each other over designer jackets, than
our public schools should be able to require their student to wear uniforms.
School uniforms is that they can be a symbol of pride, create a school identity and become
part of the school’s students. Claire Howlette also said “Uniforms give students a sense of
belonging to a particular school and create an identity for the school in the community.
In short, with school uniforms, there is no competition to dress in the latest trends, which
would put a lot of financial pressure on students and parents.

Point of Motion
1) School uniforms may deter crime and increase student safety
A peer-reviewed study found that schools with uniform policies had 12% fewer
firearm-related incidents and 15% fewer drug-related incident than school without
uniforms. Another peer-reviewed study found that, in schools with historically high
rates of sexual violence, sexual attacks were less likely if uniforms policies were in
place. School uniforms also prevent students from concealing weapon under baggy
clothing, make it easier to keep track of students on field trips and make intruders on
campus more visible. Frank Quatrone superintendem in the Lodi District of New
Jersey stated that “When you have students dressed alike, you make them safer. If
someone were come into a building, the intruder could easily be recognized.

2) School uniforms can save parents money


Choosing what to wear to school every morning can be a time consuming event and it
can also be very expensive to keep up with latest fashion trends. When students wear
school uniforms, this can save money on clothing purchases throughout the school
year.

3) School uniforms make getting ready for school easier , which can improve punctuality
Keeping the focus on education should be the main idea of a school uniform and it
does just this by allowing students to get dressed in a set of clothes which laid ready
for the school next day. Students don’t need to spend time choosing appropriate outfits
for the school day and can instead focus their minds on what is really important.

4) School uniforms keep students focused on their education,not their clothes


When all students are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they
look and how they fit in with their peers.They can concentrate their schoolwork,
wearing school uniforms also enhances school pride, unity, and community spirit,
which can boost interest in education.
