The Accountability
" State the Vision & Mission of your organisation and discuss what are the most
significant types of accountability that are inherent to your work. Mention two
ways (other than the statutory ones) in which accountability measures can be
incorporated in your organisation.".

Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust is a 30 year old based in Grant road Mumbai. It works in
Education, Livelihood, Hunger, Disaster management and Health. It was started by
Late Mr. Mahendra Mehta and Smt. Asha Mehta. RNCT is committed for the welfare
of the society especially the underprivileged part of the society and its works for their
upliftment irrespective of it caste and creed. The logo of the organization states its
vision which is – New future for child, which is free of hunger, abuse and poverty. Our
aim is to build a society where respect, compassion and dignity of every individual is
preserved. Our mission is to empower underserved communities through sustainable
development initiatives and various education programs.

Accountability in the social sector is very important especially towards citizens to

ensure that public services are effective, transparent and responsive to their needs. This
can be achieved through transparency, citizen participation, monitoring and evaluation.
It’s essential for building trust and promoting the well-being of society and the citizens.
Incorporating accountability in the organisation can be done by having transparency
about the government programs and schemes, giving citizens information about it, and
making the resources available for them. Encouraging the citizens to be part of
government survey and new initiatives such as “beti badhao, beti padhao” and “mid-
day meal” for kids etc. Making people aware about the impact of such initiatives. It is
also important that we provide access to technology platforms and teach the citizen how
to use them. For example when the covid-19 hit everyone started working on online
platforms. My organisation also taught its beneficiaries various courses online. We even
taught people how to download zoom, how to open account of zoom and use it. Within
6 months they were master in using it and would often message asking for the link if
we forget to send them one. My organisation has in past educated “Persons with
disability” about their rights and various schemes for them. We still do that.

One of the value statement of my organisation is Respect- incorporating respect involve

various things. A person should be respectful in his / her words and actions towards
others and treat everyone with same respect and dignity irrespective of their position in
the organisation. It is important the Leader shows respectful behaviour and interaction
with co-workers and partners and should be encouraging others to do same. It is
important to show concern for others and be active listener. My organisation can create
inclusive environment that respects everyone irrespective of his/her physical
challenges. Assisting and providing trainings in etiquettes and social behaviour in the
organisation. We can make sure that everyone is treated equally and respectfully. We
can have quarterly meetings to understand each employees perspectives. It is important
that the organisation has healthy culture that values its employees.

Also, I feel we are accountable to perform impact assessment. Impact assessment is

necessary for showcasing the impact of the various programs. As an organisation we are
accountable to measure our impact of the programs. It is important that we
communicate transparently whether our program are in line with the needs of the
society or not, whether we stand by our mission and perform according to the needs of
the society or not and produce meaningful outcomes through our programs. We should
get regular feedbacks of our work from all the stakeholders, such as beneficiaries,
donors and team members. This will give insights in to parameters for impact
assessment and also on designing the future projects. Their inputs are valuable for the
organisations growth and success. It is also important that the organisation have a robust
impact assessment system in place for collecting data, to identify areas of improvement
and make informed decisions for the future projects.

By incorporating respect and impact assessment in the organisation we will establish a

strong bond with the community for whom we work for. This will ensure that we stand
by our mission and vision, we utilise the resources appropriately that is according to the
needs of the community and that we ensure bring a fruitful change in their lives.
