Youth’s problems in Pakistan
Pakistan, with its young and growing population, is home to a significant youth
demographic. However, this youth faces numerous challenges that hinder their
personal growth and the nation's progress. This document explores the issues and
challenges faced by the youth in Pakistan and suggests suitable solutions based
on my knowledge and understanding.

I. Unemployment and Underemployment

One of the most pressing problems faced by Pakistani youth is unemployment.
Many young individuals graduate from educational institutions with high hopes
but struggle to find suitable employment opportunities. Recently the
unemployment rate of Pakistan increased to 6.5%. Additionally, even when
employed, they often experience underemployment, working in jobs that do not
match their qualifications.

Reason
 Low industrial growth rate
 High population
 Jobs are not provided on the basis
of merit

Solution
 Vocational Training Programs:
The government and private sector can establish vocational training
programs that equip youth with practical skills aligned with market
demands, enabling them to secure better employment.
 Entrepreneurship Support: Encouraging entrepreneurship through
financial incentives and mentorship programs can empower young
individuals to create their own businesses and generate employment for
themselves and others.
II. Education Quality and Accessibility
Education is the most powerful weapon of the youth. With it they could lead their
country towards progress. Unfortunately, quality and skill based education is still
a dream for youth, especially for the poor. Access to quality education is still a
challenge in many parts of Pakistan, especially in rural areas.
Solution
 Invest in Education Infrastructure: The
government should allocate a larger share of
the budget to education and build more
schools and colleges, particularly in
underserved regions.
 Teacher Training and Accountability:
Implement comprehensive teacher training
programs.
 Promote Primary Education: Primary
education is crucial to ensure that children,
especially in rural areas, have access to basic education, laying the
foundation for their future development.

III. DRUGS
Drugs are the most common and major problem in youth. Now a days our half of
young generation is addicted to drugs. Due to these drugs many youngsters died
every year. Smoking is popular now a days.
Reason
 Bad Company
 Media
 Mental Disorder

Solution
 Arrange Seminars: We should arrange seminars for the awareness of drugs
in youth.
 Starting Campaigns: By starting campaigns against anti-drugs.
 Banned Drug making industry: Government should banned drugs making
industry and government should punish drug suppliers.

IV. Lack of Skill Development

Many young individuals in Pakistan graduate with theoretical knowledge but lack
practical skills. This mismatch makes it challenging for them to compete in the job
market.

Solution
 Skill-Based Curriculum: Revise the
education system to incorporate skill-
based curricula and provide students with
hands-on learning experiences.
 Industry-Academia Collaboration: Foster
partnerships between educational
institutions and industries to create
opportunities for students to gain practical
experience through internships and
apprenticeships.

V. Gender Inequality
Gender inequality is a significant problem in Pakistan, limiting the opportunities
and development of female youth. Girls often face barriers to education and
employment.

Solution
 Girls' Education Promotion: Implement
policies and programs that encourage
girls' education and ensure their access to
schooling.
 Women Empowerment Initiatives:
Encourage initiatives that empower
women and girls through vocational
training, financial support, and
mentorship.

V. Suicide Problem
Suicide is a global public health concern, and its impact on young individuals is
particularly alarming. The youth, often struggling with various emotional and
psychological issues, may resort to suicide as a desperate means of coping.
Reason
Social Isolation
Academic Pressure
Substance Abuse
Bullying and Cyberbullying
Solution
 Implement mental health education in schools to teach young individuals
about the importance of mental well-being, self-care, and how to seek help
when needed.
 Accessible Counseling Services: Increase the availability and accessibility of
counseling services in schools, colleges, and communities, providing young
individuals with a safe space to discuss their problems.
 Parent and Teacher Training: Educate parents and teachers about
recognizing the signs of emotional distress in youth and equip them with
the skills to provide appropriate support and intervention.
 Media Responsibility: Encourage responsible media reporting on suicide to
avoid glorification and instead promote awareness, resources, and
prevention methods.
VI. Mental Health Challenges
The youth in Pakistan often face significant mental health challenges due to
academic pressure, unemployment, and societal expectations.

Solution
 Mental Health Awareness: Raise
awareness about mental health issues and
reduce the stigma associated with seeking
help.
 Mental Health Services: Increase the
availability of mental health services and
professionals, particularly in educational
institutions.
