DELTA SEAL O-RING KIT FOR ELECTRONIC UNIT PUMPS (EUP)


Occasional instances of fuel leakage past the EUP lower O-ring have been encountered.
This leakage allows very small amounts of fuel into the crankcase. In most instances, no
other leak paths for fuel into the engine oil can be identified. For these cases, a new O-ring
service kit (part No. 1899-O71356) is now available through the MACK Parts System. This
seal kit, consisting of a three-piece lower O-ring (two nylon support rings and a triangular-
shaped O-ring) and an upper O-ring, provides a better seal at the lower O-ring location. This
kit should be used for those instances where a fuel leak path into the crankcase cannot be
identified. One seal kit services one EUP.
The support rings are installed on both sides of the triangular O-ring in the lower O-ring
groove of the EUP. Installation procedures for the O-rings supplied in the new seal kit remain
unchanged. Use clean engine oil to lubricate the O-rings, and use the two EUP hold-down
screws to draw the EUP down into the block slowly and evenly to prevent cutting the O-rings.

Due to the design of the delta seal O-ring, the cam lobe must be
positioned with the base circle UP prior to installing each of the
EUPs to avoid damaging the delta seals. The engine barring tool
(tool No. J 3857-A) MUST be used to rotate the engine. DO NOT
use the starter motor to rotate the engine.
