Values Tree
Analysis

1. Are there overlapping values on your tree?

No, there were no overlapping values on my tree because I avoided it. However, if I were to
let the values overlap, these values: friendliness, forgiveness, loyalty and adaptability would
also be present in the roots. Trust, respect, kindness, appreciation would also be written in
the trunk. Courage, open-mindedness, and forgiveness would also fall under the values I
want to develop as I continue to live my life.

2. Highlight values which you think are important to focus on at this time.
For me, everything that I wrote on the tree are the values which I think are important to
focus on at this time, all the times even. However, if I were to specify values that I think are
of greatest important to focus on at this time, these will be gratitude, trust, empathy,
kindness, respect, open-mindedness, optimism.

3. Which among those values are most needed for the tree (you) to thrive?
Although all values written on the tree helped me thrive to become who I am now, the
values on the branches— optimism, independence, resilience, self-discipline, self
compassion, and tolerance — are what I think are what I most needed right now for the me
(tree) to thrive further.

4. Do you think the values that you identified are evident in the way you live your life
now?
With self-reflection, I think most of the values I identified is evident in the way I live my life
now. Additionally, people around me, whom I socialize or communicate with oftentimes
would say how I possess such values. However, there were values that I think I possess but
were not evident as they are not often manifested in my actions.

5. What realizations/learnings have you gained from this activity?

From this activity, I have acquired three main realizations/learnings:

(1) There are various factors that play vital roles in the development of one’s values. Family
has the most influence in it.

(2) The knowledge of my existing values creates a clearer picture of myself; it helps me
realize my own strengths and weaknesses which explains and make me understand my
good qualities, as well as my shortcomings.

(3) I am a work in progress. There’d be values that I still need to develop as I continue life
for me to be able to reach the best version of myself.
