It has become easier and more affordable for people to travel to other countries.

Do you
think it is a positive or a negative development?

For centuries humans as a species have been wandering all around the globe. While the
purpose of such ventures can range from simply the intention of visiting new places to the
intent of settling there one thing is for sure, that it has become a second nature for humans.
Specially in today’s generation due to the technological advancements in transportation
industry it has become drastically easy and cheaper to travel which comes with its own
benefits as well as drawbacks.
To begin with, the affordability creates more opportunities for people to pay visits to
countries. This in turn means that people can interact with individuals belonging to different
cultures which helps them understand more about this remarkable world. A person who has
been to Greece for instance will understand Greek traditions and cultures very easily since he
has experienced them first hand. Additionally, now that it is much cheaper to move to a
different country many individuals who couldn’t afford it previously can easily go there for a
better career. Thus, this increasing accessibility of travelling comes with many beneficial
effects.
On the other hand, inexpensive access to commutation is sure to increase the number tours,
visits and even migration. This can pose serious health risks for the travellers as well as the
native people. A recent example of this is the outbreak of covid-19, in which many places that
had not seen any cases of this disease started seeing spike in the number of infected patients
due to the individuals who immigrated from other countries. Not to mention, the sources of
transport for these ventures such as flights getting less expensive means a rise in their number
which results in an incline of carbon emissions and negative effects on environment. Hence,
this change is not one without its drawbacks.
In conclusion, the inexpensiveness of transportation across the globe can have both positive
as well as negative effects. Although the threats it poses to environment and well-being
cannot be overlooked, i believe it is an overall positive development as it creates various new
opportunities for everyone to increase their understanding of the world.
