DEAD BY DAYLIGHT FAQ compiled by Chapter XLVII

A majority of this FAQ is questions answered by Marco Santos, one of the devs for the game.

Q. What is a skill check?

Skill checks encompass specific actions: Healing, Generator Repair, Exit Gate Opening, Hex Totem
Cleansing, and Occupied Locker Searching. Other actions, like wiggling from the killer's grasp, use "skill
check dice," but are not skill checks.

Q. When an ability or item prevents an interaction (Flashlight item, No Way Out), does this deny a
Killer/Survivor any interaction?

Yes. An interaction is what follows movement. If it’s denied, you cannot perform any action.

Q. Can a Killer pick up a survivor who injures themselves in the same round (For The People, By Any
Means)?

No, regardless of how a survivor gets injured, picking them up in the same round is not allowed.

Q. How does Hag/Wraith/Nurse’s Power interact with the Firecracker item and We’re Going To Live
Forever?

Teleport powers hinge on movement, which is blocked by Firecracker and We’re Going To Live Forever
due to their movement prevention.

Yet, if Hag is present where her trap activates, she interacts instantly without movement, as
teleportation isn't necessary in this scenario.

Q: What occurs if a Survivor wiggles free after a teleport interaction by the Hag?

The Survivor’s turn proceeds as normal if they wiggle out.

Q. Does The Third Seal affect movements during bonus turns?

Yes. The Third Seal affects all movements until the start of the next round.

Q. Can movement-affecting Perks and powers affect the Killer while they are carrying a Survivor?

Yes, movement-affecting perks and powers can affect a Killer carrying a Survivor, as the act of picking up
a Survivor is the only interaction- moving and hooking are not an interaction.

E.g. if the Killer carries a Survivor into a space where another Survivor has Premonition and Diversion,
that survivor can use Diversion to move the Killer during their extra turn.

Q. Does We’re Going To Live Forever/Firecracker item prevent a Killer carrying a Survivor from leaving
your space?
Yes. However, the Killer isn't obliged to end the carry until completing all allocated movement. As perks
and items are limited to one use per round, the Killer can attempt to leave again. If they have remaining
movement, the second try succeeds. Consequently, the Survivor gains 1 die for their wiggle roll due to
the Killer's extra movement used to leave.
Q: (Survivor) Can you pick a movement card without a path at the Survivor’s location? (Killer) Can
Crowd Control select a movement card with no path at the Survivor’s location?

A: Yes. Playing a movement card is always allowed, but choosing one without movement prevents
interaction.

Q: If you injure a Survivor sharing space with a healthy Survivor, can you use Starstruck to pick up the
healthy survivor?

A: No. Starstruck triggers when you could pick up the injured survivor, but you can't pick them up the
same turn they're injured.

Q. Can you reuse an item kept with Built To Last on a Survivor bonus turn?

Yes. It is not the same turn as when you would have discarded the item.

Q. Does a Flashlight stop a Killer from using their Power?

Yes. You cannot use your power if you do not have an interaction.

Q: (Survivor) Can Off The Record make a Killer interact with a generator with no progress? (Killer) Can
you trigger a Killer Perk that activates on interacting with a generator with no progress?

A: Yes, it's possible to kick a generator with zero progress. The killer's interaction with the generator is
termed "Damage," causing them to "damage" it.

Q. Can Huntress and Trickster use their powers on an adjacent location who path has a pallet, wall, or
one way arrow?

Yes. Those locations are still connected, so those features offer no protection. Other Killer powers like
the Deathslinger’s may specifically state obstacles that block it.

Q. Can the Clown remove an existing Afterpiece Tonic/Antidote but not replace it?

No.

Q. Does the Clown’s Afterpiece Antidote affect movements not tied to interactions?

Yes. Any movement will result in the Antidote letting them move an extra space. This includes the Clown
carrying survivors.

Q. Can the Clown use Afterpiece Antidote in a location with a hook to move an extra space after
hooking a Survivor?

No. Selecting the Antidote movement upon entering a space with it doesn't conclude the interaction
sequence with a Survivor on a hook space. "Drive-by" hooking is not possible under any circumstances.

Q. If a Killer moves through a path blocked with the Entity with Bamboozle, is the Entity removed?

Yes. The Entity is treated as a breakable wall, so it is removed when the killer passes through it.
Q. If a combination of Perks modifies the same action, e.g. Bond with This Is Not Happening, do these
effects stack?

No. Effects do not stack, they replace. When determining which Perks are replaced, resolve Survivor
perks before Killer perks.

E.g. If a survivor uses Bond, a Killer can use Unnerving Presence to negate Bond and have the Survivor
roll 1 Danger die instead.

Q. If a Killer uses Tinkerer to swap a revealed movement card, e.g. Lightborn, is the new movement
card revealed as well?

No.

Q. Can you use Fast Track after someone activates Any Means Necessary?

No. Fast Track checks to see if anyone was wounded during a turn, but Any Means Necessary happens
after a turn.

Q. Are survivors forced to spend BP due to Madness (Doctor’s passive) or Dragon’s Grip if they are
already wounded?

Yes. For any effects that ask a Survivor to choose an effect, they must always choose an effect they can
perform. E.g. if you are wounded, you can't choose to become wounded, so you must choose to spend
the BP. If the Survivor is already wounded and has 0 BP, nothing happens to them.

Q. Can Survivors use Perks or Items while being carried?

Generally, Survivors can use perks or items while being carried. Though, the Survivor isn't considered to
be moving while being carried, so perks that trigger from movement generally don't work.

Q. Can you use Botany Knowledge after sabotaging a hook to rescue a survivor?

Yes. Since you are moving after sabotaging a hook, it counts as movement on your turn. All Perks that
state, “You can still interact this turn,” have an implicit, “If you would interact,” as part of that.

Q. Does Iron Will being used first prevent Off the Record?
No it does not. The trigger is "rolled a failure." That failure was still rolled, even if it's being treated as
something else.

Q. Can Autodidact be used to save a Survivor that is wiggling?

Yes. Wiggling is not a skill check but does roll skill check dice. Because the perk does not state the words
"skill check," the perk is usable.
