major scale with the right hand on piano

Objectives To learn the proper technique to play a C

major scale on the piano

Materials Keyboard/Piano

Directions (Scripting) - Today we are going to learn how to

play a C scale on the piano
- A piano has 88 keys and is divided
into sets of two black keys and three
black keys
- To find a C you need to find a set of
two black keys and place your fingers
on them. Run your fingers down the
black keys till they land on the white
keys like a paw print.
- The first note your fingers land on is
C! Then you have D and E
- Put your thumb on C
- To play a scale you need to play all
eight keys between one C and the next
C. This is also called an octave.
- Notice how you only have 5 fingers
but there's eight keys to play. I'm
going to show you how to play 8 keys
with 5 fingers.
- We are going to play the first three
keys with our first three fingers. Then
we're going to tuck our thumb under
the third finger and place it on the next
key. This is F.
- Our other 4 fingers come around and
land on the rest of the keys.
- Now play the last five notes starting
with F.
- Congrats! You've played a C scale!
