Feedback
Yes. Ashley discusses culturally responsive teaching especially concerning culture and race. She uses
Wayne Au’s perspective on multicultural education to jump start her discussion. It is clear that Ashley’s
focus was to address language gaps and stereotypes of students in the classroom. She dove deeper into
both of those focuses by providing evidence based practices for both. She did a great job of talking about
information we have learned about throughout our Diverse Classrooms in Global Societies course.
2. Does the author make a believable argument and/or provide evidence that culturally responsive
teaching can impact student success in the classroom?
She used evidence based practices to give readers ways to combat stereotypes and ways to combat
language inequities. The students vs stereotypes provides educators with evidence from students about how
multicultural education impacts them.
3. Did the author clearly offer a description for the use of at least three evidence-based culturally
responsive practices?
Ashley provided many evidence based culturally responsive practices. She even divided the practices into
different ways to combat issues associated with culturally responsive teaching. She also discussed the
benefits of using diverse texts in the classroom and ways to bridge the language gap for the diverse
students teachers will encounter.
