I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and importance of Statistics, data
collection/gathering and the different forms of data representation, measures of central tendency, measures
of variability, and probability.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute accurately measures of central
tendency and variability and apply these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.
c. Learning Competencies M7SP-IVf-g1 Calculates the measures of central tendency of ungrouped and grouped data.

mark.

D. Analysis
Measure of Central Tendency
- It is a single value that describes the way in which a group of data clusters around a
central value. It is way to describe the center of a data set. There are three measures of
central tendency: the mean, median, and mode.
1. Mean – most commonly used measure of central position.
𝛴𝑥
X=
𝑁
2. Median –is the middle entry or term in a set of data arranged in either increasing or
decreasing.
Example: 35, 54, 58, 60, 97 median = 58
3. Mode – is the value which occurs most frequently in a set of data.
Example: 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9, 9, 10, 10 mode = 9
The Mean of Grouped Data
When the number of items in a set of data is too big, items are grouped for convenience. The
manner of computing for the mean of grouped data is given by the formula:
𝛴(𝑓𝑥)
Mean =
𝛴𝑓
Where: f is the frequency of each class
X is the class mark of class.
