21 BATCH OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
Site report submi ed for the par al fulfillment of the requirement for the degree
of Bachelor of Civil Engineering
1. Introduction:
The journey began on Thursday ( 20-Nov-2023) with a group photograph capturing the
anticipation and enthusiasm of the students and faculty. Subsequently, the group embarked on a
shuttle journey to the BBSUTSD site, setting the stage for an insightful exploration of the
construction endeavors.
2. Sites/ Objectives:
The objectives of our trip are to survey of main Gate of BBSUTSD, Their
department construction work, interior class room structure and roofting at the site.
2.1 Gate:
Upon arrival at the site, the study tour commenced with an in-depth analysis of the Main
Entrance Gate, currently in the early stages of construction. The construction team facilitated a
detailed walkthrough of the project, shedding light on the architectural drawings generated
through ETABS Software. These drawings meticulously outlined the specifics of the gate,
including the dimensions of the C8 columns (36 inches by 50 inches) and the incorporation of a
raft foundation with a 1.5-inch concrete cover. The team also elucidated the use of steel bars and
the provision of a starter post plinth level. This phase set the groundwork for a thorough
exploration of the broader construction activities within the departmental premises.
2.2 Department:
Delving into the foundation aspects, the report highlighted the challenges posed by the irregular
surface of the DPC and Plinth level in the department building. Foundation walls were initially
constructed and subsequently filled with soil, paving the way for the initiation of the construction
process. The study tour also provided valuable insights into the construction of lintels, offering
an understanding of their role in the overall structural framework.
A closer look at the roof revealed the intricate process of bar bending for the slabs, illustrating
how steel is meticulously integrated into beam connections, contributing to the overall structural
stability
3.Conclusion:
In the end, our study trip was like a special part of our learning adventure. We learned a lot about
buildings, like how they're made with bricks and steel, and how architects plan them. The place
we visited, BBSUTSD, was still being built, but even in the early stages, it showed us how
important teamwork, careful planning, and doing things really well are for construction. When
we left, we felt smarter and amazed, and we now understand better how science and art work
together to create places where we can learn. The trip gave us a hands-on experience and tons of
information about the ongoing construction at BBSUTSD. The things we saw and learned are
now part of our knowledge about how buildings are made, and this report adds a lot to what we
know from our classes.
