Course evaluation Meeting

Course: Customer Focused Product Development

Examiner: Bo Bergman
Date: 28/1 2008
Present: Ksenia, Farrukh, Carl, Yeu Fwu, Torben, and Bo

Meeting 1
.We discussed the following topics
 Student concerns wrt overlap between this course and “Integrated Product
Development”;
Bo: In this course more of a customer/marketing perspective is taken as well as a
more methodological focus than the IPD course. We have identified the potential
problem. If some issues are treated in both courses they will be treated from
different perspectives.
 Course literature – after the first two weeks we will try to give the ppt
presentations and articles some days in advance. Unfortunately, this has not been
possible the second week.
 Attendance - if a participants is absent more than some single time it is up to
him/her to show that the topics missed have been understood; a short reflection on
these topics should be handed in.
 Written exam – 60% based on activities in the course (individual activity, reports,
presentations and interactive exam) and 40% form the written exam (however, the
written exam has to be approved)
 The QFD part was received positively – somewhat too compressed and it would
have been good with some more illustrative examples

Meeting 2
Go through the protocol from meeting 1 and see if there are issues that need to be brought
up again.
1. How is the teaching compared to what one wants to achieve according to the
goals? Which course elements are problematic?
2. Which elements are positive and perceived as support for the students in their
learning process?
3. How is the cooperation between the teacher and the students working? Are there
opportunities for discussion and questions? Are there sessions reserved for
tutoring?
4. How is the connection to what has been learned before made? Or is a connection
to upcoming courses, course elements or professional areas made?
5. How is the workload during the period as a whole perceived?
Is the work effort that has to be put in reasonable compared to the number of points that
the course includes?
Set a date for the next meeting. It is to be held immediately after the examination. Make a
short protocol and distribute it to the group before the next meeting.

Meeting 3
Evaluate the later part of the course according to the guidelines for meeting 2.
Discuss to what extent the examination, both in form and content, worked as a relevant
measure in relation to the set goals.
Go through the protocols from the earlier meetings and summarize them into one final
course evaluation document. The document is signed by the examiner/course responsible
as well as one student representative. It is to be distributed to the relevant individuals
within two weeks after the exam.
