PART III: READING

Directions: For Items 41-45, read the passage and choose the most appropriate answer for
each question.
1 If you do not want to pay hefty prices for imported beef, try buffalo meat, which may not
have the organic label but will be grass-fed and leaner than cow meat. That will satisfy your
craving for red meat. Fresh meat markets in Bangkok and the Northeast mostly sell cow
meat, but if you are living in the North, the markets mainly sell buffalo meat.
2 As for white meat, veal is often considered white meat in culinary or cultural contexts. You
can go for veal and eat no more than four ounces per meal. A four-oz serving of veal contains
0.115 oz of fat while a three-oz portion of skinless chicken breast contains 0.105 oz of fat.
3 A much leaner and tastier alternative to chicken is turkey with its white and dark meats
that are packed with a gamy flavor.
4 Now that you are getting the go-ahead for meats, don’t forget to take everything in
moderation and make sure to trim the fats. For optimal health, balance your diet with whole
grains, nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables.
