Choosing a lasting profession is a crucial part of a person’s life.

While I do believe that everyone

should have freedom in selecting a job, they also should be more realistic and practical about

their choices. This essay will explain my preference in the following paragraphs.

Planning for the future can have a positive effect on young people’s minds. Some people think

that teenagers should choose jobs based on societal needs as they are more likely to be successful

in their careers. Having agreed with the sentiment, I also want to add that being realistic about

your future prospects can also save you from work-related stress, because you didn’t choose a

job that fitted your capabilities.

Body 1: On the one hand, opponents believe that recent graduates should choose their careers

more realistically, weighing the career path and the money that a job may provide. For example,

a graduate who excels in biology now has two options: become a biology teacher or an animal

researcher. If he thinks practically, he will choose a biology instructor, providing him with a solid

professional path and a good wage. As a result, he will not select a researcher because it is

difficult to advance in the research sector due to the lack of a defined promotion criterion. The

example demonstrated the importance of thinking realistically when earning a living.

Furthermore, it is typical for people to have sufficient money before pursuing their passion.

The freedom of choosing a job according to interest is essential for work satisfaction. Some

would argue that young people should choose their careers to what they like, as it is likely to help

with work - life balance and make them feel content. While from a psychological point of view,

teenagers can devote more effort to the jobs that they enjoy doing. With more effort put into

working, they can get a promotion in a short time. This would have a significant impact on many

aspects of their life both directly and indirectly.

Body 2: On the other hand, if young people can choose a career of their own volition, they will

be more passionate and motivated to pursue it. If they choose an occupation that interests them,

they will dedicate more of themselves to it because it is something they enjoy. As a result, they

may be able to do well at work since their enthusiasm will operate as a driving force to propel

them forward, thinking about how to achieve in their industry. Furthermore, people performing

well at work are always thought to have superior interpersonal relationships. Because they are

doing well at work, they have more confidence in communicating with their coworkers. In

contrast, if a child is compelled to work in an occupation he dislikes, he will go through the

motions of the job without considering how to enhance his performance. He ended up being

dissatisfied and failing to advance in the company.

In short, while choosing work according to one interest might have some merits, I personally

believe that young people should be more realistic and practical about choosing their future

careers by choosing according to their abilities so they can better perform in their work, which

can lead to as better and stress-free life.
