Hi everyone, I’m Cam Tu and I’m from group 2 

So do you remember how to pronounce these two sounds /a:/ and /^/. Don’t worry because today I
will represent my group to help you remind and practice the pronunciation of two sounds /a:/ and
/^/ (slide 2)

Go to the parts of today lesson, I will present 3 main parts. Part 1/ Steps to pronounce /a:/, Part 2/
Steps to pronounce /^/, and the last part is practice (slide 3)

First part is steps to pronouce /a:/. As you can see, there are two steps, the first step is open your
mouth but not too widely. So you have to focus on how big your mouth is – not too widely. This is
too widely (làm cái miệng mở to), and this is not too widely (làm cái miệng. And the second step is
put your tongue low, in this step, you have to focus on your tongue position inside your mouth – low.
And you just speak out the sound with that shape of the mouth (Slide 5)

We have a picture decribing our inside of mouth. This is how you open your mouth not too widely
(chỉ vô cái miệng), and inside of your mouth is the tounge, the position of the tounge here is low
(slide 6)

Let’s move on to some identification signs of the sound /a:/. We have 3 signs, 1/ The sound /a:/
appereas, . . . 2/ (đọc trên slide 7)

In this first identification sign, we have prepared 3 examples for you to see, these words contain the
letter a, and followed by the letter r. Đọc âm /a:/ trước khi đọc mỗi từ (slide 8)

Next sign is the sound /a:/ appears in words cointaining the letters ua, au => Đọc âm trước rồi mới
đọc mấy từ (slide 9)

The sound /a:/ plus the letter s => Đọc âm trước rồi mới đọc mấy từ (slide 10)

Now you know how to pronouce the letter /a:/, let’s practice with me => Đọc âm trước rồi mới đọc
mấy từ (slide 11 – 15) * You have to remember the word number 29 is pronouced /ha:ken/, not
/hirken/

Part 2 is pronunciation of the sound /^/, we think it is similar with the sound we have practiced, but
the sound /^/ is a little bit different from the sound /a:/ Slide 16)

The sound /a:/ has 2 steps and the sound /^/ has 3 steps. Step 1: open your mouth naturally, Step 2:
put your tounge low, and step 3: make the sound /^/ in less than a second with your lips staying
still /slide 17/

This is a picture showing you the shape of our mouth and the position of our tounge while you
pronouce /^/ (slide 18)

Slide 19 – 30 nói như phần /a:/
