Case 2 : When the denominator is not a multiple of 10 , then write an equivalent fraction for the
given fraction where the denominator ends with zero and then write the decimal.
Eg. 4/5 = 8/10 = 0.8
Conversion of decimals to fraction :
1) 5.3 = 5 + 0.3
= 5 + 3/10

To subtract decimals we have to follow these steps :

Multiplication of Decimals :
For multiplication of a decimal with whole number
Step 1 : Multiply the numbers without the decimal point ( as a whole numbers )
Step 2 : In the product , place the decimal point of the given decimal number places.
Eg:
To multiply a decimal with multiplication of 10 , just move the decimal point to the right by as many
digits of zeros in the multiplier
To multiply the decimal number with the decimal number ,
Step 1 : Ignore the decimal point and multiply them as a whole number but make sure to count the decimal places of
both the numbers
Step 3 : Add the decimal numbers and in the product, place the decimal points .

Division of a decimal by a whole number :
To divide a decimal number by a whole number , divide as we divide the whole place the decimal at the point where
we divide decimal in the dividend.
