PROJECT TITLE: TRANSPORT

PROJECT PRESENTED BY:

[Ramya Arul]
Introduction
What is a Transport?
Transport (in British English) or transportation (in
American English) is the intentional movement of
humans, animals, and goods from one location to
another. Modes of transport include air, land (rail and
road), water, cable, pipelines, and space.

Transport refers to any vehicle that you can travel in

or carry goods in. Have you got your own transport?
Which type of transport do you prefer? Transport is a
system for taking people or goods from one place to
another, for example using buses or trains.

Five means of transport.

The different modes of transport are air, water, and

land transport, which includes rails or railways, road
and off-road transport. Other modes of transport also
exist, including pipelines, cable transport, and space
transport.

Transport can be by land, water or air:

 Land transport using
walking, roads and railway tracks by bicycles and
other vehicles
 Water transport
using ships and barges in canals and
in rivers and seas
 Air transportation using airplanes and airports
and helicopters
The four modes of transport are:
o Roadways.

o Railways.

o Waterways.

o Airways.

Land transport:
 Land transport is the transport or movement of
people, animals or goods from one location to another
location on land. The two main forms of land
transport can be considered to be rail
transport and road transport.
 Several systems of land transport have been
devised, from the most basic system of humans
carrying things from place to sophisticated networks
of ground-based transportation utilising different
types of vehicles and infrastructure.

Land transport refers to the vehicles that can be used

to ferry us around from one spot to another on land.
Let’s take a look at some examples below –

1. Car
2. Bus
3. Train
4. Bicycle
5. Truck
6. Taxi
7. Motorcycle
8. Subway
9. Scooter
10. Tractor

Road transportation
 A road is an identifiable route, way or path between
two or more places. Roads are typically
smoothed, paved, or otherwise prepared to allow
easy travel; though they need not be, and
historically many roads were simply recognizable
routes without any
normal construction or maintenance.
 In urban areas, roads may pass through
a city or village and be named as streets, serving a
dual function as urban space easement and route.
Rail transportation:
A train consists of one or more connected vehicles
that run on the rails. Propulsion is commonly provided
by a locomotive, that hauls a series of unpowered
cars, that can carry passengers or freight.

The locomotive can be powered by steam, diesel or

by electricity supplied by trackside systems.
Alternatively, some or all the cars can be powered,
known as a multiple unit.
Water transport

Water transport is a kind of transportation by using

water. It means the process of moving people or
goods by boat, ship over a sea, ocean, or river. It is an
important mode of transportation and it is the
cheapest mode of transporting bulky goods or
perishable goods compared to other transports.

Water transport is the process of moving people,

goods, etc. by barge, boat, ship or sailboat over a sea,
ocean, lake, canal, river, etc

Methods of Water transportation fall into three

categories:
 Aqueducts, which include pipelines, canals,
tunnels and bridges.
 Container shipment, which includes transport by
tank truck, tank car, and tank ship.
 Towing, where a tugboat is used to pull an iceberg
or a large water bag along behind it.
Air transport:

Air transport is one of the fastest modes of public

transport which connects international boundaries.
Air transport allows people from different countries
to cross international boundaries and travel other
countries for personal, business, medical, and tourism
purposes.

Examples of air transport:

o Planes
o Jets
o Rockets
o Helicopters
o Drones
Conclusion

In conclusion, environmentally friendly

transportation methods are those which have a low
impact on the environment. Many countries have
taken measures to address environmental problems
through processes and infrastructure, which can be
shown in cities such as Oslo, London and
Amsterdam.
Thank you
