Organization as a system used different types of resources, including material and human
resources to achieve the intended objective. Among these resources, human resources are the
engine that helps the organization meets its goal. The survival of any organization depends on
the quality of the human resources. Thus, organizations should develop and train their employees
to increase productivity and efficiency. Helping employees to become effective in their jobs is
one of the most fundamentally important tasks in people management that any work organization
has to undertake.

9
Employees are the most valuable asset of every organization as they can make or break an
organization`s reputation and can adversely affect profitability. Employees are often responsible
for the great bulk of necessary work to be done, customer satisfaction, and the quality of
products and events. Without proper training, new and existing employees do not receive the
information and develop the skill sets necessary for accomplishing their tasks at their maximum
potential. Employees who undergo proper assessment follow ups and effective management tend
to keep their jobs longer than those who do not As management student this issue is a very
sensitive and also one of the least resources in company. In our case Ethiopian Institute of
Agricultural Research (EIAR) is a governmental research organization and a foundation for
agricultural growth in Ethiopia. It is also one of the oldest Agricultural research organizations in
Africa. Its mission is to see improved livelihood of all Ethiopians engaged in agriculture, agro-
pastoralist, and pastoralist through market-competitive agricultural technologies, these all
activities done by well and fully fledged employee in order to meet the institute objectives and
goals which are improving the life of Ethiopian people in terms of best agricultural product.

The Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research (EIAR) is a governmental research organization

and a foundation for agricultural growth in Ethiopia. It is also one of the oldest Agricultural

stages since its first initiation during the late 1940s, following the establishment of agricultural

Institute of Agricultural Research (IAR) was established to formulate national agricultural
research guidelines, coordinate National Agricultural Research System, and undertake research

 The overall internship experience and the group specific work:

 Why do you select this institution? As business management student we try to asses
different activity and task in management one of this issue is we try to point out the
Ethiopian agricultural institute for creating understanding knowledge about how
Ethiopian agricultural institutes goes on so this issue is fundamental and as we know
that Ethiopia in recent years up to know follows the agricultural based economy so

9
the entire economy depends on this sector so we try to see and analyze how it’s really
work this activity in this institute. this is our first and for most motive to selecting the
institute.
 In which section of the company you have been working and why? We are
working at the whole human resource department which specifically in training and
development unit because Human Resource Development focuses on developing a
superior workforce, which helps the organization for successive growth. All
employees need to be valued and they should apply collective efforts in the labor
market every time. This can only be achieved through the proper and systematic
implementation of employee training and development programs. Employees are
always regarded with career-enhancing skills development, which leads to employee
motivation and retention. Undoubtedly, well-trained and developed staff will be a
valuable asset to the company and thereby will increase the chances of their
efficiency and effectiveness in discharging their duties.
 Which work piece or work task you have been executing? as we state in the above
declaration we focuses on mainly in training and development section which we
observe in different activity which undertake in training and development unit.
 What major challenge or problem you have been facing and identifying while
performing your task? Actually we didn’t face that much fundamental issue
regarding to our spell on the institute the institute has working smoothly and the
institute employee are really helping us in order to adapt their daily basis task.
 What measures you have taken (purpose as a solution for selected problems) in
order to overcome these challenge and problems, etc. As we sated the above
statement we didn’t face any type of fundamental challenge which considering as
problem.
 What type of recommendation you have made regarding to the identified
problems again in this issue we actually no recommending and pointing out any type
of problem for our point of view.

 The overall benefit you gained from the internship, including:

 What you gained in terms of improving practical skills; in terms of gaining
practical skill we get a lot because we really appreciate the way the institute employee
accepting and adapting as to the work and also in our management class we do really
thought about human resource management briefly so that course needed to be tasted
by practical overview so more on less we gain a lot of practical skills in terms of
matching the conceptual approach and on job daily work
 What you gained in terms of upgrading your theoretical knowledge; yes in this
regard as we mentioning earlier the training and development section is one of the
key activity in human resource management as management student we try to see this
human resource management function in specific approach but when we come to

9
practical world this functions is more than what we thought I the class so not only in
practical way and also by conceptual matter we really add something which we are
not getting in the class.
 What you gained in terms of improving workplace problem solving capability;
interims of workplace problem solving its clear we gained some grate ability to get a
better decision making in practical nature so we are not facing that much problem in
our spell but in minor case we try to develop and observe how to reacting and also
proactive for specific problem which is facing in the real world.
 What you gained in terms of improving your team playing skill; this also good
opportunities to develop formal working teams in organization and also in this regard
we goes to the institution by group of four so in practical team role we didn’t struggle
that much to collaborating for doing our jobs and also really helpful to create
harmony in the really working world.
 What you gained in terms of improving your leadership skill; in terms of this
aspect leadership skill are not much forwarding I n our spell because we usually play
as supporting employee to the main working force so by far we didn’t exercise our
leadership skill in the internship spell.
 What you gained in terms of understanding about work ethic issues, workplace
psychology and related issue; this is other masterpiece and the fundamental thing
which really exercising in our spell because we did learn about this issue in our class
but when we come to real working environment its good and really helpful to
understand and know what kind of working place order we face after completing our
class what kind of organizational environment we face after completing the course so
it’s really help full to get some fundamental real world experience to get ready for the
next chapter of our life.
 What you gained in terms of entrepreneurship skill; in this regard not that much
because we are solely focuses on the objective and organizational need of the institute
so in case of entrepreneurship skill we didn’t get that much skill
 What you gained in terms of improving your interpersonal communication; As
we studied in our class that the communication is the blood line of the organization so
when we come to this regard so we try to know and implement both verbal and none
verbal skill to communicate cohesively to the institution communities which is play
great role in our spell in the institution

Conclusion

Human Resource Development focuses on developing a superior workforce, which helps the
organization for successive growth. All employees need to be valued and they should apply
collective efforts in the labor market every time. This can only be achieved through the proper
and systematic implementation of employee training and development programs. Employees are

discharging their duties. Training is a learning experience, which can make positive changes and
reach the desired objectives of the organization. It improves the ability of the employee to
perform the job efficiently and with excellence. Training and development programs are the
basic structural and functional foundations for the development of employees. These foundations
are important for guiding employees through different situations. As we state in our previous
statement we specifically focuses on how the institute has done the training and development
function in human resource department how they execute different technique in order to train and
develop existing and new employee this activities leads to gain practical working environment
experience and a better understanding of the human resource activities specially training and
