    PAST PERFECT (had + verb participle + complement)

    SUBJECT + HAD + V. PARTCICPLE + COMPLEMENT.

    Past perfect the class had begun when Ivan arrived Past simple.
    My mom had bought the tickets before I called her.
    By the time the teacher explained the new topic, we had uploaded the first activity.

    ✾ SUBJECT + HAD’NT + V. PARTCICPLE + COMPLEMENT.

    We hadn´t finished the project when the teacher asked.

    Had you been in Australia when I met you? Yes, I had. No, I hadn´t.
    What subjects had you failed when last semester finished? I hadn´t failed any subjects.

    EXAMPLES:

    My dad had driven when I studied for my exam.
    I had been in the school when my sister went for food.
    I rang to my dad for a notice when my mom had taken a shower.
