Forming the Past
Progressive Tense
For singular:
• [singular subject] + "was" +
[present participle ("verb-ing")]
• I was/ she was/ he was/ it was

For plural:
• [plural subject] + "were" +
[present participle]
• You were/ we were/ they were
I was sleeping.

They were eating cookies when I arrived.

He was cleaning the kitchen while you were playing video games.

It started to rain while I was walking home.
