 SIMPLE PAST
1. Actions that started in the past and
finished in the past
Ex: I studied at night
(Enfatiza que estudió en la noche y
ya finalizó, la acción está completa)
2. Past routines and habits
Ex: At the school, I woke up at 6 am
3. With ordered events in the past
Ex: First, I studied, then, I ate. Then,
I went to sleep.
PAST CONTINUOUS
1. Actions in progress in the past
Ex: I was studying at 7 pm
(Enfatiza en que inició a estudiar
antes de las 7 y continuó después de
las 7)
2. Two or more things that were
happening at the same time.
Normally used with WHILE
Ex:
I was cooking while my mother was
cleaning - Estaba cocinando
mientras mi mamá estaba limpiando
Both (Las dos) - Normally, when is used in those sentences

Simple past and past continuous can be used together when one interrupted the other

Ex:
I was walking when I saw him I vomited when I was dancing
