1. A thermometer is an instrument that measures temperature.

It can measure the

temperature of a solid such as food, a liquid such as water, or a gas such as air. The three
most common units of measurement for temperature are Celsius, Fahrenheit, and kelvin.
The Celsius scale is part of the metric system.

2. A protractor is a semicircular geometry tool divided into 180 equal parts, each measuring
1°. It is used for drawing angles of known measures and finding angles of unknown
measures and is usually made of transparent plastic, glass, steel, or wood. The geometry
protractor has two scales marked on it: outer and inner.

3. Vernier Calipers is for measuring the distance between two opposite sides of a surface.
We can measure the internal and external dimensions and even the height of an object
with accuracy. It can measure up to one-hundredth of a millimeter.

4. Micrometer screw gauge is defined as an instrument that is used for measuring the
diameter of thin wires, the thickness of small sheets such as glass or plastics.

5. Dial gauges are measuring instruments that can accurately measure minute lengths and
displacements. Unlike other measuring instruments that directly measure numerical
values, they are used for measuring the difference compared to a reference or correcting
parallelism.

6. A ruler, sometimes called a rule, line gauge, or scale, is a device used in geometry and
technical drawing, as well as the engineering and construction industries, to measure
distances or draw straight lines.

7. Yardstick is a 36-inch or 3-foot-long measurement tool used to measure straight objects

that are longer than 1 foot like desk, chair, etc.
8. A tape measure, or measuring tape is a type of hand tool typically used to measure
distance or size. It is like a much longer flexible ruler consisting of a case, thumb lock,
blade/tape, hook, and sometimes a belt clip. A tape measure will have imperial readings,
metric readings, or both.

9. The L-square is a two-piece ruler arranged in an L shape. The L-square is used to create
scaled patterns from original sewing patterns. The arms of the square are 14 by 24 inches.
Use the square to create half, quarter, eighth, 16th and 32nd scales.

10. The Hardness Tester is a measuring tool for testing the strength of concrete. The
Hardness Tester measures strength according to the Schmidt principle.

11. Pressure gauge, instrument for measuring the condition of a fluid (liquid or gas) that is
specified by the force that the fluid would exert, when at rest, on a unit area, such as
pounds per square inch or newtons per square centimeter.

12. Weighing scale, A scale or balance is a device used to measure weight or mass. These are
also known as mass scales, weight scales, mass balances, and weight balances. The
traditional scale consists of two plates or bowls suspended at equal distances from a
fulcrum.

13. Measuring square, in geometry, a square unit can be defined as the metric unit used to
measure area. Here, for instance, the area of this rectangle is measured in square units
using unit squares. Some examples of square units in metric units are square meters,
square centimeters, and in customary units are square inches, square feet.
14. An odometer is a device for measuring the distance traveled by a vehicle. The odometer
usually lives in the vehicle's dashboard. “Odometer” derives from two Greek words
meaning “path” and “measure.”

15. Speedometer, instrument that indicates the speed of a vehicle, usually combined with a
device known as an odometer that records the distance traveled.

16. The digital angle locator displays measurements digitally in degrees on an easy-to-read
LCD display. It also features easy two-button operation, including a zero function that
lets you set any angle as your zero point. The 7" ruler portion of this tool includes a scale
in 1/32's of an inch and in millimeters.

17. A compass, more accurately known as a pair of compasses, is a technical drawing

instrument that can be used for inscribing circles or arcs. As dividers, it can also be used
as a tool to mark out distances on maps. Compasses can be used for mathematics,
drafting, navigation and other purposes.

18. The Baseline Bubble Inclinometer precisely measures, tests, and evaluates the range-of-
motion of necks, hips, spines, elbows, knees, shoulders, ankles, wrists and MCP joints.
To use, place the Inclinometer near the joint to be measured.

19. Calipers are used to take precise measurements of the inside, outside, depth and step
measurements of objects. Calipers are mainly used in scientific labs and engineering
schools where accurate measurements are necessary. They are also found in many
woodworkers' toolboxes.

20. Pressure measurement is the measurement of an applied force by a fluid on a surface.

Pressure is typically measured in units of force per unit of surface area. Many techniques
have been developed for the measurement of pressure and vacuum.
