Starting Point

PREPARATION:

1. Session exercise: Participate in the discussion with your analyst about goals and

personality. Briefly describe the main idea in the activity done with the group.

2. Take the Jung & Myers-Briggs test found at: https://www.16personalities.com/free-

personality-test

3. Make sure you get the results of your personality in a Screenshot.

4. Answer the following questions. You could just reply to the questions, or you could

write a one-page reflection using times new roman 12 single space when answering

the questions in the form of a reflection. Provide vivid examples.

a. Is your own four-letter combination a good description of who you are? Why yes or

why not?

b. How does your personality type manifest itself in problem solving, interpersonal

relations, the school environment, friendships, family, etc.?

As an individual of the ISTP personality type, the delineation through the four-letter

combination (Introverted – 52%, Observant – 58%, Thinking – 75%, Prospecting – 78%,

Assertive – 61%) aptly encapsulates facets of my character. The description notably

encapsulates my proclivity for hands-on exploration, trial-and-error methodologies, and a

penchant for resolving problems through direct engagement.

In interpersonal dealings, I welcome others' interest in my pursuits but underscore the

importance of respecting my personal space and principles. A fundamental commitment to

fairness and an adherence to the "do unto others" principle guide my decisions. However, a

propensity to act impulsively may lead to misjudgments, assuming a shared permissive

disposition among peers.

Within an academic setting, my preference for experiential learning occasionally contrasts

with the structured nature of formal studies. When confronted with subjects of personal

interest, my dedication and problem-solving acumen become apparent.

Navigating friendships and familial relationships involves a willingness to share experiences

and help those within my close circle. Despite projecting a calm exterior, the occasional surge

of spontaneous energy contributes to an enigmatic persona. Struggling with the delineation

of boundaries, especially in emotionally charged situations, remains a challenge.

In professional endeavors, an optimal environment involves collaborative efforts with like-

minded individuals who comprehend my idiosyncrasies and appreciate the dynamic nature
of my contributions. The amalgamation of creativity, humor, and a hands-on approach in

crafting pragmatic solutions constitutes a source of fulfillment.

While the four-letter combination provides an insightful framework, it is essential to

acknowledge the ongoing process of self-discovery and personal development, reflective of

the dynamic nature inherent to individual growth.

Answer the following questions: What is the Jung & Myers-Briggs test? Why is it useful?

The Jung and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test, rooted in Carl Jung's theories,

assesses personality preferences through four dichotomies, yielding 16 personality types.

Widely used for self-discovery, team building, and career guidance, it identifies individuals'

natural inclinations in decision-making, information processing, and interactions. Valued

for enhancing communication, conflict resolution, and personal growth, it offers insights

into strengths and areas for improvement. Despite popularity, critics question its scientific

rigor. Still, many find practical applications in appreciating diversity and fostering

understanding within personal and professional relationships.

PROCESS:

Find information about the Jung & Myers-Briggs test focusing on the dimensions that it

evaluates and the types of personalities and create a Mind map with this information (You

can either do it on the computer or physically).

Development
PRACTICE:

Based on the results you got in the test, describe how your personality affect the way you

learn and your role as a student. Provide examples of what you have experienced and what

you believe you need to effectively learn in this new method. (400-500 words)

As a Virtuoso, my approach to learning is deeply rooted in hands-on experiences, creating,

troubleshooting, and embracing trial and error. I thrive when actively involved in projects

and value the interest others show in my work, even welcoming them into my space if it

respects my principles and freedom. Sharing my experiences, especially with those I care

about, brings me joy.

However, the traditional role of a student can be a bit challenging for me. While my

mechanical tendencies might make me seem straightforward, I am, in fact, enigmatic—

friendly yet private, calm yet suddenly spontaneous. Staying focused on formal studies is a

struggle as my curiosity often leads me to explore various interests, taking me in bold and

unpredictable directions.

One notable aspect of my learning style is my impulsive energy. I can be loyal and steady

for a while, but this energy builds up and can explode without warning, propelling me

towards new interests. These shifts are not some grand vision quests; instead, I am

constantly evaluating the viability of new interests.

My decisions are grounded in practical realism, guided by a keen sense of direct fairness

and a "do unto others" attitude. However, I recognize that I might act too soon, assuming

others share my permissive nature. I have been the first to crack an insensitive joke or jump

into someone else's project without hesitation. It is not a deliberate disregard for rules but a

manifestation of my inclination to embrace life's unpredictability.

Understanding boundaries is a persistent challenge. I've learned that other personality types

often have firmer lines on rules and acceptable behavior. Predicting emotions is difficult for

me, an extension of my commitment to fairness. Exploring relationships through actions

rather than empathy can lead to frustrating situations, but it's an intrinsic part of my nature.

In a traditional classroom setting, adhering to guidelines and rules may feel restricting. I

prefer an environment where I can collaborate with friends who understand my style and

appreciate my unpredictability. Combining creativity, a sense of humor, and a hands-on

approach is where I find joy and fulfillment. It's about building practical solutions and

things, not just conforming to established norms.

In this new method of learning, I believe flexibility and creativity are crucial. I thrive when

given the freedom to explore, experiment, and learn through doing. Engaging with projects

that allow me to apply practical solutions in collaboration with like-minded friends would
be most effective. Recognizing and respecting my impulsive energy and unique learning

style will contribute significantly to my academic journey.

Relation

TRANSFORMATION

1. Watch the movie THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER (2012)

2. Identify the personality of the main character according to the Jung & Myers-Briggs

test. (This is Hypothetical)

3. Describe in 400-500 words the personality of the character. Focus only on the

dimensions. Make sure you provide examples from the movie that support your

choices.

4. Can you identify similarities in the personality of the main character and your own?

Explain your answer.

5. Write down a short conclusion of what you have learned and why it is important for

you to reflect about this topic.

Hypothetically aligning the main character from "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," such as

Charlie, with the ISTP personality type—Introverted, Observant, Thinking, Prospecting, and

Assertive—the film provides examples of these dimensions. Charlie's reserved and

introspective nature reflects introversion, as he navigates high school life through internal

observations. His perceptive mindset aligns with observant traits, paying close attention to

his surroundings and understanding others deeply. The thinking dimension is evident in his

analytical approach to challenges, demonstrated through letters where he dissects his

experiences logically. Charlie's openness to new experiences and flexibility in embracing

personal growth showcases his prospective nature. While initially passive, his assertiveness

emerges as he stands up for himself and those he cares about.

Comparing Charlie's ISTP traits with my own Virtuoso personality, similarities emerge in

our hands-on problem-solving approach and a preference for practical learning. Shared
reserved natures and a commitment to principles align with my own characteristics.

Reflecting on fictional characters like Charlie not only provides insights into individual traits

but also promotes self-awareness and understanding. Recognizing parallels between fictional

personalities and our own fosters personal growth and improves interpersonal relationships.

These insights are invaluable for navigating life's challenges effectively.
