 D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI) was founded on December 24, 1954, in a small room
in Pandacan, Manila, with the vision of building for a generation of Filipinos. The
company started by constructing chicken houses for the Bureau of Animal
Industry. From this humble beginning, DMCI earned a reputation for on-time
delivery and quality work.
 David Mendoza Consunji, the founder, is the second son out of a brood of 9 kids
of Gaudencio Consunji and Consuelo Mendoza. He spent his early years in the
province of Bataan, where he learned to value the lessons that spring from
having a simple life. He studied high school in De La Salle University and later
pursued Civil Engineering in the University of the Philippines.
 Despite facing numerous personal tragedies, including the loss of his mother at
an early age due to an undiagnosed heart condition, the loss of his brother Jorge
during the onset of the war in Manila, and later on his father and uncle were
murdered by rebellious groups in the province, David Consunji persevered and
went on to establish one of the biggest construction and engineering-based
companies in the Philippines.
 The business grew well and fast that on March 8,1995, DMCI Holdings was
incorporated and then it was registered with the Philippine Stock Exchange on
December 18, 1995. To date, D.M. Consunji, Inc. continues to enjoy its prestige
and the good name it has established over the years.
 DMCI is recognized for its expertise in the construction of different power plants
which includes engineering, installation of equipment, and construction. It has
been involved in buildings, energy, infrastructure, utilities and plants, concrete
products, equipment management, and steel fabrication. The company has been
known up until today as the country’s “Builder of Landmarks” and is known to
pioneer the application of advanced engineering technology in Philippine
construction.

 David M. Consunji was cited as one of the four awardees of The Outstanding
Filipino (TOFIL) of 2002, Papal awardee of Knighthood of Saint Sylvester in
1988, Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa by the University of the Philippines in
1988, Meralco Awardee in Engineering and Applied Science in 1994,
Management Man of the Year Awardee in 1996 and the UPAA Lifetime
Distinguished Achievement Awardee for the 2005, for his invaluable contribution
to the development and progress of the country.
 The current CEO of DMCI Holdings is Isidro Consunji. He was appointed in
March 1995. He is the eldest son of the esteemed construction magnate David
Consunji, founder of DM Consunji Inc. He started working in the family business
at a young age and after graduating from the University of the Philippines with a
degree in civil engineering, he immersed himself in the business, steadily
working his way up the corporate ladder until he eventually became the president
of DMCI Holdings.
 D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI) was founded on December 24, 1954. So, as of
November 27, 2023, DMCI has been in business for almost 69 years.
 DMCI has completed numerous iconic projects, including:

o In the 70’s and 80’s, DMCI began its venture into international projects.
Some notable ones are the Istana of the Sultanate of Brunei, the Salim-
Halban Highway, and several ARAMCO facilities in Saudi Arabia. The
Company also constructed bridges in Kuwait and irrigation projects in Iraq.
