Biology Lab #2 and #3

Date: 10/10/2023

Title: Observing a microscope slide of a dicot root.

Aim: To observe the different types of cells present in roots and stems.

Apparatus: Microscope slide..

Methods:
1. All apparatuses and materials were cleaned before attempting this experiment.
2. A prepared microscope slide of a dicot root was placed under the microscope for
observation.
3. All observations were taken for later use.
4. When finished, the used materials were discarded and apparatuses were cleaned
and dried.

Results: (Blank page)

Reflection:
Dicot roots, like all living organisms, serve a specific function in our lives. Dicot
roots, being a result of Mother Nature's creations, have helped other organisms develop
and survive as another species since the beginning of time. Fruits, vegetables, mangoes,
lentils, blackberries, potatoes, and avocados are just a few examples of products made
from dicot roots. From this information, you can see how important and relevant this
plant is, as well as how much of a staple it is in everyone's homes and everyday life. This
plant deserves to be praised for the role and functions it has served in our lives. Learning
about this plant is more than just a Biology topic; it is also a reality to discuss, such as
being grateful for the privilege and honour of having something so beautiful exist on
earth while growing and sacrificing its life for our families to thrive and for future
generations to live on.

Title: Observing a microscope slide of a monocot root.

Aim: To observe the different types of cells present in roots and stems.

Apparatus: Microscope slide.

Methods:
5. All apparatuses and materials were cleaned before attempting this experiment.
6. A prepared microscope slide of a monocot root was placed under the microscope
for observation.
7. All observations were taken for later use.
8. When finished, the used materials were discarded and apparatuses were cleaned
and dried.

Reflection:
Monocots, like their counterparts, are among the most essential creatures on the
planet as a result of the role and function they provide for life. Monocots produce maize,
rice, wheat, and barley, as well as sugar cane, pineapples, dates, bananas, plantains,
coconuts, and many more readily apparent tropical fruits to those living in the tropics. It
is thought to be widespread in human nutrition. As we have known these products since
the dawn of time, they have played a role in human evolution. Before and after slavery,
humanity was acknowledged for their agricultural farming methods used to feed their
families. Even bamboo and palms (both monocot products) were and continue to be a
main source of construction materials and fibers all over the world, spawning enterprises
in a variety of economies. This plant is one of the reasons life is so significant, not just as
a byproduct of the natural environment but also as a source of advancement and
development for people. As a result of our actions, this will not receive the recognition it
deserves for the assistance it has provided us throughout mankind's existence.
