Every Rose has Its Thorns

A certain man planted a seed and watered it faithfully before it blossomed, he examined it
carefully, and he saw a bud that would soon bloom. After a few weeks, the seed then results in a
beautiful and elegant flower, and the rose bloomed. He saw the thorns beyond it however he still picked
it up gently with courage knowing the pain he would endure. He was wounded by those thorns however
he was stunned by the flower, he thought “How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened
with so many sharp thorns? “How can a simple situation make me realize how life can be as beautiful as
a rose yet can be painful by those thorns acting as hardships beyond it? He added.

Life is beautiful but not always easy. It’s always that roses with thorns, which has problems too. That is
how life is. However, let me connect this one when I was a kid up until now. A kid that is not aware of
what reality means; a kid that is not aware that every rose has its thorns.

Life at a very young is a carefree one. As one grows up, one longs more and more for her
childhood, the best period of one’s life. A child has no work, no worries no anxieties. She is free from the
stress and unpleasantness of adult life. Her motto of life remains “eat, drink, play, and be merry.”

Personally speaking, when I was a kid, I was not really aware nor cared to what would happen tomorrow
or how I resolve a problem that I caused since it would just go away on its own. What I only care about,
is what I’m doing at that particular time, what makes me happy that time. I only knew that life always
revolves around the things that makes me happy like eating and playing, I don’t have problems or
worries at all. I was not aware that I could be wounded by words since I only thought is that I could be
wounded literally as I accidentally cut my finger while using a knife. I didn’t know what actually hardship
is that time, what I only knew is that I suffer hardship every time my mom let me read a two-paragraph
story or when she let me memorized the multiplication table when I was in grade 2. Not knowing that
the true hardship is, a situation in which your life is difficult or unpleasant in which mixture of stress and
anxiety attacks you. And with that, I’m not aware that life and “that hardship” is interconnected with
each other, that life is like roses that has its thorns; it is beautiful yet hardships can prick and painful.

However, as years added to my age, I’ve gradually realized that life does not remain as it is, that
our life does not only revolve to those things that makes us happy like eating and playing, that life has its
thorns, not just a thorn that you can be injured at literally, but a thorn that challenged you, made you
suffer, and also gives you learnings in life.

They say a beautiful flower that came from a plant can be burdened with so many sharp thorns, and yes
that’s the rose. This flower is beautiful yet can be painful in some part. It is similar to what life actually is,
it is beautiful yet it can be painful, as hardships passed by. It is not just a bed of roses; thorns are also a
part of it and should be accepted and faced by us just like how the man faced and was stunned by the
beauty of the rose after picking it up knowing that he was wounded by the flower.

To sum up my speech today, I want you to realize that life has its hardships like how every rose
has its thorns, I want you to know that these are just part of how life help us to grow. Yes, there are
instances in our life that we are not aware that there are such things as challenges and hardships since
our life when we we’re at that young stage is just centered to those things that keeps us happy and
merry. However, one day, you will wake up and realized what life actually is, that life will stun you by its
beauty as rose, yet it has challenges which are like thorns prickling beyond it and have to be faced and
overcome by all.
