He spends some time inspecting the area around.
SAM
Sid, Sam here ... How are you

SAM
Did you arrive just now?
SID
A little while ago.
SAM
You came alone?
SID
No, Maya’s with me.
SAM
And?
SID

There’s no "and".
SAM
Strange!

Yes, my life’s strange.
The elevator reaches the pressed floor.

The body is burnt beyond

out of it. They could identify him
by his locket - he was quite famous
here ... Josh, the rock-star, they
used to call him. And this locket
was always with him in all his
pictures.
SID
I had gifted him the locket when he
turned 21.
Sid’s eyes turn red.
They sip their drinks quietly for some time.
SID (CONT.)
What do the cops have to say?
SAM

They traced some drugs in the car.
He was possibly high and drove off

Sid is silent.
SAM (CONT.)

Josh cuddles her from back.
JOSH
You don’t know this man babe. He’s

JOSH
I am. And I already have a job

SAM
That’s good! From where?
JOSH
Arvind’s club.
6C
SAM and SID are drinking and talking. Sam is a bit agitated.
SAM
But he refused my offer and chose

SAM
He is the Raavan of Goa! He is the

Josh always had this thing about

I warned him, but you know Josh!
The door latch turns, and MAYA, an attractive lady in her

Josh than we thought we knew.
SID
I don’t know why somebody would

SAM
People don’t get murdered because
they are bad or good. Josh was
impulsive. And sometimes when you
do things in an impulse, you have
no idea what the consequences could

SID
And then this staged accident.
Whoever killed him didn’t want to

an accident to mislead the cops.
Who do you think could have

I don’t know. I am not a cop ...
Somehow my gut feel tells me that
Arvind is involved in all this. The

((pointing a finger at Nat))
What do you know about pain? You
have nothing amiss in your life.
You have a husband who loves you
madly and cares for you. You slip
in your marriage and still he has
accepted you. What more do you
want? Everything is set for you.
Nat is taken aback by this sudden outburst of anger from
Sid.
The realisation of what Sid has said seeps into her and she
starts seething with anger.
NAT
Everything is set for me? My
husband loves me madly? Why don’t
you ask your friend to answer these
questions Sid? I am sure he has the
balls to answer them honestly.
SAM
Nat, now don’t get agitated. Sid
has lost his brother. So obviously
he is in deep pain. Whatever he has
said, don’t take it to heart.
NAT
Don’t be a pussy Sam. We all know
who meant what.
SID
Whatever it is Nat, Sam doesn’t
deserve all this.
NAT
You two are perfectly made for each
other. You always cover each
other’s ass and get away with all
the sins. Why should I be at the
receiving end?
SID
No Nat, Sam has been at the
receiving end. I know my friend
very well. He -

SAM
Sid, leave it. What’s the point in
turning everything sour?
SID
No Sam, don’t stop me. I know this
is the only woman you have ever
loved in your life.
NAT
Don’t fool yourself Sid. Sam
doesn’t love anybody. He can’t.
He’s not a loaded bullet, he’s just
an empty shell. I am sure you must
be knowing that Sam is impotent.
Sid is startled at this revelation.
NAT (CONT.)
He can fire all the bullets but it
won’t kill anybody. He can never
get a woman pregnant.
SAM
Oh ho ho, you don’t need to get
personal Nat. You -
NAT
But being impotent is his asset. He
can fuck any girl without condoms
and have no fear of getting her
pregnant. God is so kind to you
Sam! I didn’t mind the fact that he
is much older than me. I have also
tolerated him laying his hands on
any girl that passes by. But I do
mind that I can’t bear any child
with him. And that hurts ... and
makes me feel incomplete.
((turning to Sid))
And you ask what more do I want!

Tanya and Maya are sitting on the bed with a heap load of
cash, the bag of cash is lying on the ground, empty.
Tanya finishes counting the cash.
TANYA
Nine-seventy, nine-eighty,
nine-ninety ... and the last one
here. Whew! That’s ten crores!

Tanya smiles.
TANYA
So, this is the money that Josh
stole from Arvind, and Arvind
thought I had the money! So that’s
why his men were after me!
Maya comes and caresses Tanya’s face.
MAYA
Did they hurt you baby?
She kisses Tanya’s cheek.
MAYA (CONT.)
Did they hurt you here?
TANYA
You know? How?
MAYA
I know a lot more than you know
baby.

MAYA (CONT.)
Ah! That feels better now.
TANYA
You didn’t tell me you met that
bitch!
MAYA
Didn’t I? Well, I am telling you
now.
MAYA
So that’s the dirty little secret
of Sid. Well, that bastard has more
dirty secrets, but never mind,
maybe another time.
NAT
Tell me something Maya, do you
believe Sid could have killed Josh?
MAYA
I don’t know, but he did have a
motive ... a strong motive. Money
can make people do anything!
She gives Nat a mysterious look.
MAYA (CONT.)
You married Sam for the money, but
you’re not in love with him.
NAT
((trying to hide her
reaction))
Why do you say so?

MAYA
Body language.
NAT
Is it that obvious? Huh, anyway,
who cares now.
NAT
Men are bastards. Can’t trust them.
MAYA
We think alike.
SID
I don’t know how you are taking all
this shit. You know what she has
been doing behind your back. OK, so
what if it was with my brother? I
still can’t pardon it. And you -
SAM
You know me buddy. I am equally
responsible and I feel guilty.
SID
But that woman has no remorse. Does
she know that you know?
Nat walks into the cabin.

NAT
Do I know what Sid?
There is a moment of uncomfortable silence.
SID
Sam knows that you were having an
affair with Josh.
NAT
Good for him. So how does that make
him feel? ... I guess nothing. Sam
doesn’t feel anything. He can’t
feel, because all his feelings are
concentrated in his dick ... Yes, I
had an affair with Josh, and let me
tell you Sam, he was a gooood
lover, a fantastic lover. Want to
know what all he did to me? I had
the best fuck of my life. Want to
know where all we had sex? Here, in
this very same yacht, in the deck,
in this cabin, where you are
sitting right now, we had sex. And
yes, he made me come, again and
again and -
SAM
((very angry))
Stop it Nat!
NAT
Huh! Feeling defeated? He gave me
what you couldn’t give me Sam.
SAM
Then why did you want to kill him
Nat?
Nat is taken aback. Sid is shocked too.

No, Sir hasn’t come back as yet.
There is -
Nat continues her march into her BEDROOM, ignoring the maid.
She gets into her room and starts throwing things around.
She breaks down, starts sobbing.
But she takes care of herself fast, gets up, opens her
drawer and pulls out her gun.
She opens another drawer, takes out a case, but finds it
empty.
She desperately searches for something in that drawer.
SAM
((very coldly))
Yes Nat, if you were so much in
love with Josh. If he was the fuck
of your life, why then you wanted
to kill him?
((turning to Sid))
Why don’t you ask her Sid? Why did
she shoot your brother?
((turning back to Nat))
Don’t worry darling, nobody’s gonna
hang you for that. We are well
beyond that stage now.
He gets up, and pours himself a drink.

SAM (CONT.)
You came to the hotel at 6:25, just
before it was getting dark.
JOSH
Ah! Finally you came. Well, I am
about to come. Wanna join?
Nat doesn’t reply.
Josh’s face squirms with pain and shock. Blood oozes out in
the bath-tub. Josh slumps down dead.
54.
SAM
Women are very difficult to
understand. They talk about loyalty
and yet kill the man they love.
NAT
((hissing))
You don’t talk about loyalty. And
whose loyalty are you talking
about? Josh’s loyalty? Huh! He was
not in love with me. All he wanted
was fun. He was having fun with me
and he was having fun with Tanya at
the same time.
42
She sees TANYA walk down the hotel lobby towards elevator.
Meanwhile her car arrives.
She gets into her car and starts driving slowly, keeping a
watch on Tanya, as she enter the elevator.
Suddenly she sees Sam’s car drive through the hotel gate.
She picks up speed and drives out.
She parks her car outside and gets out.
She avoids the lobby and walks through the hotel garden. She
stops at a point where she is outside Josh’s room.
She peers inside and sees Tanya and JOSH hugging each other.
She can’t hear what they are talking but sees then kissing
deeply.
55.
MAYA
Were you happy with him?
TANYA
Kind of.
MAYA
But did he satisfy you the way I
satisfy you?
Tanya is silent.
MAYA (CONT.)
Why do we women think we need a guy
to complete ourselves? ... Guys are
an addiction, a bad addiction. the
sooner we realise, the better for
us.
TANYA
He was nice to me ... till he lay
his eyes on her.
MAYA
They always do that. A guy can
never be loyal to a girl. Only a
girl can be loyal to a girl.

Then that day, I knew for sure
something was wrong ...
JOSH
I need to go out for some work. I -
TANYA
What work? Arvind’s?
JOSH
Yes, Arvind’s work. Something
urgent has come up. I have to leave
now.
TANYA
OK, then I’ll also come with you.
She goes to pick up her clothes.
Josh stops her.
JOSH
No, you can’t come.
TANYA
Why? I’ll just be with out. I won’t
interfere in your work. I promise.
JOSH
((angrily))
I told you no. Don’t mess up my
work.
He finishes packing.
TANYA
At least you can tell me where you
are going?

Something still doesn’t fit in Sam.
You haven’t come out in the open yet.
He digs inside his pocket and pulls out something.
SID (CONT.)
Besides, I haven’t forgotten the
forensic report. According to
Rathod, Josh was poisoned, not
shot. Yet Nat admits to have shot
Josh. Yes Sam, we don’t know how to

I am sorry gentlemen. We’ll have to
continue this meeting some other
time. Something urgent has come up.
SAM
Maggie, stop doing whatever you are
doing. Go home and keep an eye on
my wife ... don’t ask me anything

call me back once you find out what
she is upto.

checked in.
RECEPTIONIST
Sir, he’s in room 203. Shall I call
him for you?
SAM
No thanks darling. I was with him
before. I need to return something
he left behind.
He walks up to the elevator.

she is hopping mad. She is coming
to kill you.
JOSH
Why would she -
SAM
Just listen to me. I will deal with
you later. You need to deal with
her now. She’s got a loaded gun,
but what she doesn’t know is that
it is loaded with an empty shell. I
had given her the gun earlier and I
had replaced the bullet with an
empty shell because I didn’t want
her to do something stupid.
He looks around the room and then heads into the bathroom,
pulling Josh inside.
SAM (CONT.)
I want you to be in the bathtub.
Cover yourself with foam.
He goes back to the room and looks around.
SAM (CONT.)
Here, keep this hidden in the foam
and empty the content as she shoots
you. And for God’s sake, act dead,
proper dead. the rest, i will
manage. I’ll leave now. She could
be coming anytime.
He moves towards the door.
JOSH
But how do I trust you? How do I

the Intercontinental. I just saw
you in the lobby.
NAT
((startled))
I, um - I am at the washroom.
SAM
Hurry up then. We are supposed to
attend a party in the evening. We
are getting late.
NAT
Um, I’ll be there shortly. Bye.
She hangs up, looks around for the bag of cash again, checks
out on Josh, and leaves.

SID (cont’d)

poisoning bit? And the car
accident?
SAM
I don’t have all the answers. I can

death; we are all to be blamed ...
All I know is that I feel guilty.
And I am sure, you two are also
feeling guilty for some reason or
the other ...
Now that a lot of things are out in

Don’t worry darling. We all have an

on your destiny.
Nat briskly puts the gun on her forehead and pulls the
trigger.
She survives.
They all look at each other.
SAM (CONT.)
We all survived. We are all lucky
bastards. Maybe destiny doesn’t
think so bad about us. Maybe we
deserve a second chance. Who knows?

Nat puts her hand on Sam’s shoulder.
Sam smiles.
CUT TO:
Sid picks up the gun.
FADE OUT
She makes sure that Tanya is in deep sleep. Then she gets up
and tiptoes to a table where her purse is kept. She unzips
it and takes out the poison bottle.

She follows the bellboy and finds out his room; she sees
TANYA inside; she gets into her room as Josh goes down to
meet Sid.
MAYA empties the poison bottle in the sink and throws the
