[School Main Office #, Or The Landline to My Office]

Hello, students!

My name is Mr. Matthew Tabor. I am a choral music educator who has been teaching
since 2024. I am a staunch believer in preparing students for a lifetime of singing and
musicianship, and a lot of my course is geared towards this precise goal. My expectations for you
in this class are simply that you are present both physically and mentally, and that you are
engaged as much as I am engaging. However, participating further than this will only help you.

A – 89 - 100
B – 79 - 88
C – 69 - 78
D – 55 - 68
F – 0 - 54

Quizzes - 25%
Concerts - 45%
Singing Credit - 30%
Extra Credit - Talk to Me

My grading scales so that if you are present at concerts and sing regularly, you will pass
the class easily. If you aced every quiz and sang every day, you would get through the class,
even if you could not make a single concert. I hope that this system is helpful to your emotional
wellbeing, as your grade is not dependent on excellence in any one area. If you feel that you need
help to pass the class, or the grading system is unhelpful to you, please come talk to me as soon
as you are able.

If your attendance drops consistently, you may be asked to not sing on our concert. If this
happens, consider your peers who make an effort to be in class every day. If you miss three (3)
classes unexcused, we will have a conversation. If attendance continues to be an issue, at five (5)
unexcused absences, we will have a second conversation, which may result in your being asked
to not sing on the concert. Additionally, I may ask students to not sing on a concert as I see fit, as
long as I have a discussion with your guardians first.

Please contact me at any time if you have questions or need anything at all.
