Welcome To Cantare!

Being a member of this ensemble requires dedication and commitment. Each of you have
special talents that you bring to this group. Use your talents wisely to create a successful and
rewarding choral experience for everyone. We will find success through cooperation, patience,
and responsibility.
WE CAN DO TOGETHER, WHAT NONE OF US CAN DO ALONE.
EXPECTATIONS
1.
2.

3.

Show respect to the director and other singers.

Arrive to every rehearsal prepared and on time. This means you have your music and a
pencil out, ready to warm-up at 3:00. This also means that you will have completed any
practice assignments in preparation for the rehearsal. Please have a snack and use the
bathroom before 3:00. Let your teacher know you should be dismissed with first wave
because you have rehearsal.
Scheduling conflicts or illnesses need to be communicated to the director before the
rehearsal. If you cannot see me in person, please send an email as soon as possible. It is
not acceptable to tell another student to inform me of your absence. If you are
participating in other clubs and activities please let me know your schedule up front. This
group performs frequently, and needs all members present to create the best sound.
Remember, we are a team!

SCHEDULE
Our regular rehearsal schedule is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 4:30. Since there is
no late bus at 4:30, you must arrange for a pick up. I highly recommend carpooling. All students
should be picked up no later than 4:35. No one will be available to watch you after this time.
Please avoid scheduling future doctor appointments or any other commitments during
rehearsal time. If it is unavoidable, let me know ASAP.

Music Department Website/Google Classroom

I am currently updating the music department website with all of our performance dates. There
will also be documents and permission slips added if you lose a notice I hand out in rehearsal.
Additionally, rehearsal sound files will be uploaded to the Cantare Google Classroom page.
ATTENDANCE
All singers are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts. Singers who are absent from a
concert or performance seriously affect the quality of the performing group.
Excused absences include: student injury or illness, family crisis, other requests will be handled
on an individual basis.
If you miss more than FIVE rehearsals in a concert season, you risk your involvement in
upcoming performances.

COMMUNICATION
Communication is one of the most important aspects of this group. I will communicate any
practice assignments, rehearsal changes, performance updates, and other important information,
through various ways including email, handouts, announcements in rehearsal, and the websites.
You are responsible for checking your email and the website for updates and it is your
responsibility to keep track of this information.
FOLDERS / MUSIC
Take folders home to practice. You are responsible for bringing them back to school for
rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
