To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express sincere interest in the position that you have listed. I
have extensive experience teaching music to many age ranges, evidenced by my K-12
certification in the state of Colorado. I spent at minimum several dozen hours per
semester in classrooms during my time studying music education at Colorado State
University. One of the strengths I have fostered in this time is growing my ability to
create meaningful relationships with students. I strive to build an environment in
which students feel safe, knowing that their mental wellbeing is my top priority, while
engaging them in the process of lifelong music making.
During my education, I gained experience in a variety of areas. My biggest asset
is my voice, especially because of the journey it represents for me. I did not sing in any
setting until high school, thus I am very familiar with the struggle that students go
through as they wrestle with anxiety, stage fright, and self-doubt about their singing
voices. Empathizing with students in this way causes me to be more invested in their
success, and more understanding of the obstacles that hinder them. Additionally,
having now sung in opera scenes and my own voice recital, I am equally equipped to
facilitate students who wish to push themselves into professional settings in voice.
I am passionate about many topics, and would love the opportunity to teach
choir, piano, composition, music theory, audio mixing, and music production. I have
experience in all of these concepts, along with many others. Sharing my musicianship
is a motivator for me as a teacher and as a person. I have a lot of fondness for history,
geography, Pokémon, football, and videogames, and I love sharing a mix of all of
these with my students.
