GRAMMAR:

A. Adjectives ending with -ing and-ed

Tính từ đuôi -ing Tính từ đuôi -ed

Dùng để miêu tả tính cách, tính chất đặc Dùng để diễn tả cảm xúc hoặc nhận xét của
điểm của người/ sự vật/ sự việc/ hiện tượng. người hoặc vật về một sự vật/ sự việc/ hiện
tượng/ tình huống nào đó.

Ex: The film is very interesting. Ex: I’m interested in the film

Ví dụ 1:

Peter is an ________ person.

➡ Cho dù là danh từ (person) ở sau chỗ trống chỉ người hay vật thì hãy lưu ý luôn chọn tính từ
đuôi ing để bổ nghĩa cho danh từ.

Ví dụ 2:

John makes me _______.

➡ Khi các câu xuất hiện 2 chủ thể khác nhau như “John” và “me” ở ví dụ trên, ta thấy “John”
tác động vào “me” và một dấu hiệu nữa chính là xuất hiện động từ “make” thì hãy chọn tính từ
đuôi ed nhé.

Ví dụ 3:

Jenny is _____ in him. (interested/interesting)

➡ Một lưu ý nữa là khi thấy xuất hiện dạng thức giới từ đi kèm như giới từ “in” trong ví dụ trên
thì chọn tính từ đuôi ed đó là interested.
Các cặp tính từ đuôi -ing và -ed thường gặp:

 annoying – annoyed: tức giận

 interesting – interested: hay ho, thú vị
 boring – bored: buồn chán, tẻ nhạt
 embarrassing – embarrassed: ngượng ngùng, bối rối
 exciting – excited: hào hứng
 fascinating – fascinated: quyến rũ, thu hút
 frightening – frightened: đáng sợ, khiếp đảm
 challenging – challenged: thách thức, thử thách
 tiring – tired: mệt mỏi
 confusing – confused: bối rối, hoang mang
 satisfying – satisfied: vừa ý, hài lòng
 frustrating – frustrated: bực tức, bực bội
 depressing – depressed: suy sụp, trầm cảm
