Topic: Various Dimensions of Philippine Literary History from Precolonial to Contemporary Week/Days: Week 1 – Day 1__
Subject: 21st Century Literature from the Philippines and the World___________________ Grade Level: Grade 12________
Content Standard: The learner will be able to understand and appreciate the elements and contexts of 21 st century Philippine
literature from the regions.
Performance Standard: The learner will be able to demonstrate understanding and appreciation of 21st Century Philippine
literature from the regions through:
1. a written close analysis and critical interpretation of am literary text in terms of form and theme, with a description
of its context derived from research; and
2. an adaptation of a text into other creative forms using multimedia.
Learning Objectives/ Competencies: At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
ACQUISITION Define literature and its importance;
MEANING MAKING Identify and complete the different literary period;
Explain the dimensions of Philippine literary period from Pre-colonial to Contemporary; and
TRANSFER Compare and contrast the changes that was brought by the different literary periods.
ELEMENTS OF LEARNING PLAN
Activity: Semantic Web
A semantic web will be presented to the students where some of the will be asked to provide their
definition of literature.

LITERATURE
EXPLORE
(ACQUISITION)
After the students define Literature, the teacher will present its definition and importance. Before
the teacher explains the importance of literature, students will be asked the following:
FIRM-UP  What will you feel if you are not allowed to do things under your interest?
(MEANING MAKING)  Can you imagine a world without literature?
 Do you think that literature plays a major role in the society?
They will also give insights about the provided importance of Literature.
Activity: Litera-TOUR
The teacher will present a timeline with six different periods, these periods do not have a name.
Students will be asked to identify the names of the period by looking at the provided choices.

DEEPEN
(MEANING MAKING)

The answers will be revealed and each period will be discussed. (Answers: F, B, C, A, D, E)
Activity: Compare and Contrast
Instructions: Compare and contrast the changes that was brought by the different literary periods.
