Mission Statement

My mission is to provide a loving, safe, and inclusive environment, where children are free to be
themselves, and can learn and grow to their fullest potential.

Philosophy Statement
Belief Statement 1: I believe that every child is worthy of love, and that they deserve to have a
teacher who understands them and who they know they can trust. My job as an early childhood
educator is to make connections with children and help them realize their potential. This is not
easy, as every child is unique, but with time and dedication, every child is teachable.

Belief Statement 2: I believe that child learn best with hands on experiences. Maria Montessori
once said, “The child gives us a beautiful lesson – that in order to form and maintain our
intelligence, we must use our hands” (Montessori, 1946). If we want children to remember what
we have taught them, we must give them a way to make it concrete. They are more likely to
remember something they DO rather than something we tell them.

Belief Statement 3: I believe in a child-centered curriculum that will be both challenging, as

well as foster children’s natural curiosity. Children are innate learners that crave independence
and soak up information. Child-centered curriculum is based off children’s interest and needs and
is focused on what their next steps in development are. This information is gained through
assessments which are vital at determining where children are socially, developmentally, and
academically.

Goal 1: Create a safe environment where children can learn and develop.
Objective 1: Make sure the teachers are certified in safety protocols (CPR) and
have a background in child development so that developmentally appropriate practices can take
place.
Objective 2: Make sure that state regulated child-staff ratios are strictly followed.

Goal 2: Foster a sense of curiosity and love for learning.

Objective 1: Have a wide range of activities available for children so their natural
curiosity can be supported.
Objective 2: Help children have pride in their work, and a sense of ownership in
their learning.

Goal 3: Create an inclusive environment

Objective 1: Make sure classrooms and materials are accessible to children who
may have varying abilities
Objective 2: Be knowledgeable about resources available in the community to
assist children who might have developmental and physical delays
