1. A chemical firm produces automobile cleaner “A” and polisher “B” realizes a profit CO L

of Rs.10 on each unit of “A” and Rs.30 on each unit of “B”. Both products require
processing through the same machines M 1 and M2. But “A” requires 4hrs on M 1 and
8hrs on machine M2 where as “B” requires 6hrs per unit on machine M 1 and 4hrs
per unit on machine M2. The available capacities are 12hrs of M 1 and 16hrs of
machine M2. Assuming that demand exists for both the products, how many units
of product “A” and product “B” should be produced to realize the optimum profit.

5. A steel company has three open hearth furnaces and five rolling mills.The CO L

given below. Determine the optimum shipping schedule and the total cost of
transportation.

jobs. The manager wants to assign the duty to his staff, so that the total time taken
by the staff should be minimum. The matrix given below shows the time taken by
