According to Healthy people2020, Dementia refers to a group of
symptoms that cause problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. It is
so heartbreaking seeing a loved one suffering from this disease. They are more likely to be hospitalized, and is linked to high health care costs. Alzheimer’s disease which is the most common type of Dementia has no cure. However I feel that being aware with early diagnosis and treatment can help maximize their quality of life. Interventions such as education and support to address their caregiving needs can help improve health and well-being in people with dementia. It can also help to reduce the stress on the caregivers.
HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It weakens a person’s
immune system by destroying important cells that fight disease and infection. Some people are more likely to get HIV than others because of many factors, including their sex partners and risky behaviors. There is currently no cure for HIV. But with proper medical care, HIV can be controlled. However HIV can be prevented, I feel it starts with education. Getting tested is also very important so that you know your status. Practicing safe sex can reduce the risks. I feel we can manage our stress knowing that this is preventable disease. If contracted, you can be resilient and strong by educating, taking the medication and having a good support system knowing you will get through it.
