Overview

It is expected that a literature review takes approximately 2 months.

So that is June and September for me
Goal: Hand it in Friday Oktober 27th 2023

Project phases
Let's think about the phases of this
Context: First I kind of need to get a handle on the situation and absorb some
context
I need some more specifics, a better look at the process as it is done now
The operations
DRIE/dicing/sputtering/spincoating/etc
Maybe shadow some people in the lab?
Exploration: Explore the literature, read widely.
Waver handeling
Operations in vacuum
Measuring small forces
Measuring small displacements
Properties of thin film membranes
Working with lasers
On wafer suspension and measurement?
Synthesis: Put it all together
With a broad overview in the pocket, it's time to define a concrete research
question
With this also a number of supporting questions
Then I need to find supporting research for that, if I don't have it already
From this I can write the Discussions/Conclusions/Recommendations
sections
Project proposal: Based on this decide what I am actually going to study
With this as a firm base I can then draft a project proposal
Writing, editing and presenting: Making sure I have all the deliverables
While I expect most of the writing to happen as I go, it is good to set some
time aside for iteration.
Finish up first draft
Make presentation
Incorporate feedback
Milestones:
Jun 5th - Kickoff meeting: Formal start of project with Richard and Lucas
Jun 20th - Define main question: Decide what I am going to look into more deeply
Jun 30th Pre-vacation draft: semi-concise write up of the important parts of the
research I've found so far
Will help me get back into it after the vacation
Agreement with supervisors on main and supporting questions: There will
probably be some back-and-forth and (re)aligning of priorities after summer
Sept 19th Draft literature review: First version of literature review
Sept ?? Lit. review practice presentations: Dry run for the final presentation
Sept ?? Lit. review presentations: Will this still happen?
Yes, although less formally
Oct 6th Deadline literature review: Hand in final version

Note: Receiving feedback on written material could take much longer than indicated
here, and the planning will shift accordingly.

At the time of writing it is the end of week 4.6.

This means I have 4.7, 4.8, 4.9 and 4.10 for the first half of this
