DO NOT USE FUTURE FORMS

a. In time clauses (introduced by: WHEN, AS SOON AS, WHILE, BEFORE, AFTER, UNTIL, BY THE
TIME) which refer to the future; only the verb in the main clause is in the future:
She’ll text us as soon as she arrives / has arrived.
By the time we graduate we will have practised our writing skills quite extensively.
b. In conditional clauses:
What are you going to do if the weather is fine this weekend?
However, when IF = WHETHER follows a transitive vb. to introduce its direct object clause or
when the sentence is a polite invitation, not a conditional sentence proper, the restriction no
longer obtains:
Mother asked her if/whether she would like something to eat.
If you will take a seat, I will go and check whether Prof. Johnson can see you. [= polite invitation
to sit down while a certain action is conducted]
c. With GO and COME use the present continuous instead of to be going to:
