Topic Selected: What does the research say about advantages and disadvantages of
distance education?

1. LITERATURE REVIEW:
What does the literature/research say about this issue/topic? By using NAU
Library or Online Search engines, conduct a literature review.
• You need to include 5 different sources (book, journal article, web article
etc.) in your review. Try to use current sources as much as possible.
• You need to summarize and synthesize your sources by discussing a
common theme or issue.
• You don't need to critique your sources
• You don't need to evaluate your sources (if the sources are trustworthy,
weather the author has a bias or not)
• You need to provide background information such as history and
definitions

Brief Literature Review: eztalks.com states that distance education has

gained a lot of popularity over the past few years and it helped a lot of
people who couldn’t attend classes on campus and can do it full time
online. Elearningindustry.com says that you can learn at any given time.
Wgu.edu states that it had an increase which was 7% increase in the fall
2020 compared to the 5% increase in Spring 2020. Oxfordcollege.ac states
that people tend to be too busy and can’t commit top be a full time student
which is really a disadvantage, but it’s also an advantage because your
studying at home where your comfortable. Researchgate.net states the
advantage is the increase of students and the disadvantage is that not all
students have the profile required to enter a distance learning course.

• What is your personal opinion on this issue? Do you agree with the
research? If you agree or disagree, please explain why?
 • Provide examples/experiences regarding this issue from school
perspective or If you are not working in a school, from your profession. Be
specific with your examples. You can mention software/hardware names,
specific methods that you plan to use, etc.
• How would you implement this research in your career? (At least 1
paragraph)

Reflection: My opinion is that it’s really good doing classes online because it’s all
comfortability, but it sucks that people can’t do that. I’m really in between based
off what I just said before I answered this question. I would implement this
research by making sure my students have all the tools they need to be
successful. Have zoom meetings. Check up on the person by emailing them to see
if they have any questions with a particular assignment. Let my students know my
phone number, so they can call me to ask questions about any assignments to
help them out.
