DIGITAL MANUFACTURING & DESIGN

ROADMAP PROJECT
STEP 2: FINALIZE YOUR PROJECT TITLE AND BEGIN YOUR
PROJECT CHARTER

For your final 4.0 Roadmap to Success in Digital Manufacturing and Design Technology project, you will be asked to develop a written
“roadmap” that outlines how you will transition your career from its current state to the future desired state in the Digital
Manufacturing & Design paradigm, using concepts gleaned in this specialization. Your Roadmap will be submitted in Course 10, as a
Peer Review task, which will allow you to get a sense of how others intend to transition their own careers as well.

By completing each of the Roadmap steps (in Courses 1-9 of the Specialization), you will be prepared to submit your final 4.0
Roadmap to Success Project. In the final course you will be asked to submit your final project as a single document. Please be sure to
save your work, as your responses to each of these steps will contribute to your final 4.0 Roadmap to Success project.

Step 2: Finalize your Project Title and Begin your Project Charter
In the first course of this specialization you were asked to create a list of possible ideas for your final Roadmap Project. Now you will
finalize your project selection.

While there are several models to guide you toward selecting a specific project, generally, project selection follows these five steps:

1. List possible ideas

2. Identify risks
3. Consider how each one is relevant
4. Consider the significance (or importance) of each
5. Project selection
Step 2: Finalize your Project Title and Begin your Project Charter (continued)
 You will use the templates on pages 3-4 of this document to finalize your project selection.
 Once you have finalized your project selection you can add your project title to your Project Charter (pages 5-6 of this
document). Other fields of your charter will be developed in future steps, including your mentor(s), objectives, risks, and
resources. By the end of this specialization you will have completed your Project Charter.

 You may use this form to document your response. To do so, just place your cursor on the document and start typing. Don’t
forget to save your work! We recommend that you create a folder on your computer to store your Roadmap assignments, as
well as any other material from the course that will be useful towards your career in DMD.
