After reading the articles please answer the following questions:

1. What was the most important thing you learned from the articles and why?

By introducing SP in an English teaching classroom, teachers can reveal more implicit

knowledge about language usage and assist students in reaching sufficient English language
competence.

Based on the research that has been conducted, it can be concluded that L1 students are
proficient in collecting new vocabulary compared to L2 students. Meanwhile, L2 students
can understand the meaning of each word they get, because perhaps they have been prepared
or are skilled in understanding this.

2. What was something you already knew or had learned about this topic but was
reinforced?

Understanding a language is needed by everyone, especially L1/L2 students. They must be

able to understand the words/language they acquire. This is in accordance with the opinion of
Ellis (2006) to improve students' language proficiency comprehensively and thoroughly,
teachers are supposed to teach both explicit and implicit knowledge. So after they find a word
or language they also have to know the meaning or purpose of that word/or language. So it's
not just memorization or memory.

3. What are some questions or queries you still have concerning the topic(s) discussed in
the articles.

How do you motivate students that a word or language is not just memorized, but they also
have to understand the meaning or purpose of using the word?

4. What are your answers to the questions you wrote in question no.3?

In my opinion, to motivate each student about the importance of understanding a word or

language is to explain to them that each word in English has a different meaning depending
on its use. So one word in English will have many meanings or different uses depending on
the context of the sentence. So, the point is that they have to really understand the meaning of
a word or language clearly. Little things like that can motivate students to increase their
understanding of the importance of semantic knowledge in a language.
