Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Day

• June 27 is celebrated as MSME Day.


• There are 6.3 crore MSME units in India.
 It accounts for 30% in GDP, 45% in manufacturing, 40% in exports and provides employment
to about 11.3 crore people.
• It has a significant contribution to the heavy industry as a supplier of spare parts. They play
an important role in operation of large manufacturing activities. For example, the supply of
tires and spare parts to the automobile industry.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Controversy

• SGPC was established on 16 November 1920, its work is to look after the management matters
of Gurdwaras.
• At present it is empowered by the Sikh Gurdwara Act-1925.
• The Punjab government has introduced the Sikh Gurdwara (Amendment) Bill-2023 for free
streaming of the broadcast of Gurubani (hymns of the Golden Temple).
• SGPC is opposing it as broadcasting rights allocation comes under the jurisdiction of SGPC.
• The broadcast rights are currently held by G-Next Media Group.

No caste basis in temple appointments - Madras High Court

• The Madras High Court has held that caste based appointment of temple priest (Archaka -
Tamil word) as unconstitutional and illegal.
• It is in violation of fundamental rights Article 14- Right to Equality, Art 15- Prohibition of
discrimination on the basis of religion, gender, caste.
• According to the Madras High Court, the basis of appointment must be knowledge of rituals
and rules.
• The Supreme Court in the case of Seshammal and others vs. State of Tamil Nadu (1972) had
declared temple appointment as a secular act.
• In this suit, the temple activities were divided into religious and non-religious and the
religious scale for appointment in non-religious activities was considered against the law.
• It can also be seen against the right to freedom of religion also (Articles 25, 26, 27).
National Center for Good Governance (NCGG)

• It was established in 2014.


• It is administered by the Cabinet Secretariat.
• Its functions are reforms in governance, capacity building, training of civil servants, etc.

Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment

• The scheme was announced in the 2023-24 Union Budget.


• The government has issued Rs.56415 crore to the states, Rs. 6026 crore has been received by
Rajasthan.
• This amount will be used for capital investment such as construction of roads, dams, urban
and rural infrastructure.

Global Competitiveness Index

• Issued by International Institute for Management Development.


• India’s rank- 40th.
• Denmark, Ireland and Switzerland were the top three ranked countries respectively.
• Economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency and infrastructure are its
parameters.

Blue Pottery

• Blue Pottery Center for Excellence and Logistic Park will be constructed in Jaipur.
• It will be constructed and managed by Department of Industries Rajasthan and Export
Promotion Council.
• Its objective is to work for global recognition to Blue Pottery.

Greedflation

• It describes the situation when corporate greed fuels inflation. In this situation, corporate
gives importance to the profit price instead of wage price that drives the inflation.

Example- In times of crisis and war, Oil and Energy sector companies increase the prices to
maximize profit.
Queen Durgavati (1524-1564) Gaurav Yatra

• Prime Minister and Home Minister participated in Rani Durgavati Gaurav Yatra in Madhya
Pradesh.
• Rani Durgavati was the queen of Chandela dynasty (16th century) of Gondwana Kingdom.
• She is known for defending her kingdom against the Mughals.
