Generation Z
1. Music
Baby boomers danced to rock and roll and idolized singers like Elvis Presley.
Generation Z saw the rise of musical genres such as grunge, hip-hop and
rap.
2. Growing up
Boomers grew up after World War II that was a time of dramatic social
change.
Gen Z grew up in good conditions. They were less under the stress.
3. Teenagers
In the 1950s baby boomers bought Mouse-ear hats after they watched
"The Mickey Mouse Club". Hula hoops and Barbie dolls were wildly
popular.
Generation Z is generally more risk-averse in certain activities than earlier
generations. In 2013, 66% of teenagers had tried alcohol. Also in 2013, 8%
of teenagers never or rarely wear a seat belt when riding in a car with
someone else.
4. Temper
Boomers are often ambitious, loyal, work-centric, and cynical. They prefer
monetary rewards, but also enjoy nonmonetary rewards like flexible
retirement planning and peer recognition.
Generation Z is motivated by social rewards, mentorship, and constant
feedback. They also want to be do meaningful and be given responsibility.
5. Technology and social media
Baby Boomers had only a radio and a simple television. They spoke with
their companions live.
True digital natives Gen Z live in the media flow with unprecedented access
through new technologies such as iPhone.
