After the people have assembled, a song may be sung while the minister comes to the
altar. Upon reaching the Altar the Blessed Sacrament is incensed.
O SALUTARIS
The presider goes to the Tabernacle, genuflects, removes the Blessed Sacrament, brings
it to the Altar, and places it in the monstrance turned towards the faithful.
If a Priest or Deacon, kneel before the altar and incense the Holy Eucharist. Musical
accompaniment should continue, if possible, until the incensation is concluded.
The Priest:
O Sacrament Most holy,
O Sacrament Divine
Most Sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us
humbly prostrate before You. We are Yours, and Yours we wish to be;
but to be more surely united with You, behold each one of us freely
consecrates himself today to Your Most Sacred Heart. Many indeed
have never known You; many, too, despising Your precepts, have
rejected You. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw
them to Your Sacred Heart.
Be King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken
You, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned You;
grant that they may quickly return to their Father’s house, lest they
die of wretchedness and hunger.
Be King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom
discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of Truth and the
unity of Faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one
Shepherd.
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen
In silence, we pray for the intentions of our Holy Father, Pope Francis,
and for our personal intentions.
SALUTATIONS TO CHRIST THE KING OF THE UNIVERSE,
PRESENT IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
The Priest:
We worship you, God our loving Father, for in your mercy you
created the world; and in your will, you are to reign the world
with mercy, justice and peace. For this we adore you.
The Priest:
We worship you O Christ, present here in the wonderful Sacrament
of the Altar; for in your mercy, you came to the world to die, in order
to save us from our downfall, and on the third day you rose again.
Now you sit at the right hand of the Father and we wait for your
coming. For this we adore you.
The Priest:
We worship you O Holy Spirit, for in your mercy, you continuously
guide and enlighten the people of God to the road of salvation, and
give each and every faithful a burning heart for love of you.
For this we adore you.
The choir will respond in song
Christus vincit! Christus regnat Christus, Christus imperat!
Gospel Luke 23:35–43
Adoration
During this period there may be appropriate prayers, songs, readings from scripture,
and a brief homily to help the congregation focus its attention to the worship of the
Lord. It is important to remember that the Eucharist is the "Real Presence" of Jesus
Christ. You may kneel or be seated for your private portion of adoration/devotion.
O Jesus, extending to us
the Golden Scepter of Your Mercy, Reign in our hearts.
BENEDICTION
Toward the end of the exposition the priest or deacon goes to the altar, genuflects, and
kneels. Then a hymn or other Eucharistic song is sung.
Tantum Ergo
Priest:
Panem de caelo praestitisti eis
All:
Omne delectamentum in se habentem
Priest:
Oremus,
Deus, qui nobis sub sacramento mirabili, passionis tuae memoriam
reliquisti: tribue, quaesumus, ita nos corporis et sanguinis tui sacra
mysteria venerari, ut redemptionis tuae fructum in nobis iugiter
sentiamus. Qui vivis et regnas in saecula saeculorum.
All:
Amen.
Eucharistic Blessing
The presider, if a Priest or Deacon, dons the humeral veil and goes to the altar and the
Blessed Sacrament. He genuflects, takes the monstrance, and makes the sign of the cross
with it over the people in silence. He then replaces the monstrance on the altar,
genuflects, and returns to the front of the Altar to kneel.
Divine Praises
The presiding minister then leads the faithful in the recitation of the Divine Praises:
Blessed be God.
Blessed be his Holy Name.
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.
Blessed be the Name of Jesus.
Blessed be his most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be his most Precious Blood.
Blessed be Jesus in the most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete.
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be her glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.
Blessed be St. Joseph, her most chaste spouse.
Blessed be God in his angels and in his saints.
Reposition
The presider then genuflects, removes the Blessed Sacrament from the monstrance and
places it in the tabernacle, and genuflects again. Once the tabernacle is closed, all stand.
RECESSIONAL
