SC ruling excluding Filipino, Panitikan in college

First of all let us talk about some information I did find on internet about
the omission of Filipino in College level.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Wednesday lauded the

Supreme Court (SC) decision, which denied the motion for reconsideration
filed by critics against the exclusion of Filipino and Panitikan in the general
education curriculum of all higher education institutions.

The SC denied the motion for reconsideration to stop the Implementation of

CHED Memorandum Order (CMO) Number 20, series of 2013 or the General
Education Curriculum: Holistic Understandings, Intellectual and Civic
Competencies.

The CMO, which was issued during the Aquino administration, delisted
Filipino and Panitikan as part of the core subjects of the general education
curriculum.

The SC ruling said the CMO did not violate the Constitution when it
transferred these subjects, as part of the curriculum of primary and
secondary education, and it did not limit the academic freedom of universities
and colleges to require additional courses in Filipino, Panitikan and the
Constitution in their respective curricula.

Due to this issue many comments, grievance, views and opinions came
up. Omission of Filipino subject is surely needs to have a deep
understanding, here are some answer from the students of CATC to give us
some brief clues of their sides.
 “ I’ve conduct a 1 on 1 interview on some students and uses some
simple survey questions to determine their views and opinions about
this issue “.

 RESPONSES

Bilang isang Pilipino hindi ako sang ayon
dito, ang pag tanggal ng Filipino subj sa
koleheyo ay hindi dapat gawin, dahil unang
una naka marka na ito saating mga Pilipino at
kung sino tayo ngayon at ito ay naging parte
ng makabuluhang kasaysayan noon.

Malaki din ang naging epekto nito sa aking
pag aaral sa paraang nalimitaham ang aking
kalaaman sa nakasanayang subject.

The Filipino subject tackles not only the
language but also our culture. If we start to
forget our language let alone our culture, how
will it impact our sense of nationalism? Will
everyone will agree? For me NO I disagree
with it Nationalism Unites Filipinos. This
language is used to be our stairs that’s why we
learn this new languages, and new culture .

Although the omission of Filipino Subject
hits our nationalism and culture hard but for my
academic performance it didn’t do much. As of
I know they didn’t totally remove the Filipino
subject but they moved it to lower level which
is senior high, also on college life Filipino
subject is not much more needed favorably
English is the one we put attention more.

Para sa akin lamang ay sumasang ayon ako dito.
Sapagkat sa akong palagay ay hindi naman ganoon
kalawak ang impluwensya ng subject na Filipino sa
diploma na hinahangad ng nakararami.

Hindi naman ito masyadong naka-apekto sa
pag aaral naming mga college students.
Sapagkat ito ay itinuro na hindi lamang sa junior
high kung hindi pati rin sa elementarya at ngayon
sa senior high dahil ibinaba ito, dagdag pa dito ito
rin ang ay linguwahe nating mga pilipino kaya
madali natin itong mapapagaralan.

Themes in the Filipino language, in my
opinion, are highly traditional and significant
because they capture the essence of our
identity as Filipinos. As a result, it appears that
eliminating subjects from the language also
eliminates our identity as Filipinos. So sa
isyung ito ako ay hindi sang ayon.

I think wala naman masyadong apekto ito
sa academic performance ko because mainly
Filipino subject is very common on our lower
grade experience, but the Filipino subject is
not paid much attention anymore except for
those Filipino major teachers and etc.

For me No, even na napag-aralan na ito ng
mga studyante mula elementarya hanggang
high school, masasabi ko parin na kailangan ito
sa lebel na kolehiyo sapagkat pilipino tayo,
nakasanayan na natin ang pag gamit ng
language na ito, hindi lamang nito inaalis ang
subject kundi pati narin ang culture natin.

Kung para saakin may mga
advantages at disadvantage ito sa pag
aaral. Sa advantage is nabawasan at
napagaan ang aming mga gagawin pa
sana, subalit mas lalo ko ring
napabayaan ang pag gamit sa
lenguwaheng ito na dapat sana ay
pinagmamalaki.

issuing ini, dae naman kaya need
na alion ang subject na pilipino
dahil ini na ang nakasanayan tang
lenguwahe na pig gagamit lalo na
ta mga pilipino kita mismo

kadakulan na pigtuturo sa college
puro English o kaya Math, dae
naman masyadong magagamit
ang Filipino sa college.

Yes, because as I know, Filipino Subject
is not necessary to all students. Although
as a Filipino it is very important not to
remove it for the sake of our nationalism
but, subject is not the who determine us,
we are the who determine ourselves. So
removing it doesn’t mean that we didn’t
respect own culture.

In terms of academic performance
hindi naman sya masyadong naka-
apekto sa aking pag aaral, maaring
ngang ito ay Isa sa mga core subject
bilang Isang pilipino, but sometimes
some other subject is the one that we
need to used of. Himdi naman nito na-
apektuhan ang pagaaral.

Regarding the removal of Filipino
studies from college, I disagree. Our
native Filipino language is a treasure
that we inherited from our ancestors,
and we must preserve it if we want to
understand the most profound
aspects of Filipino culture.

To think of it, the removal or the
downgrade of the Filipino subject
limits our knowledge on our
language. Filipino subject helps us
to understand more about un-
encountered Filipino words and
also promote our own culture.

For me hindi ako naging agree Sa pamamagitan ng
dito, sapagkat alam naman natin natigil ang dapat pa
na tayo ay Isang Filipino so bakit sana naming
kailangan itong alisin hindi matutunan tungkol sa
lamang nito binawasan ang ating kultura, mga ibat ibang
mga malalaman pa sana tungkol dialect, mga
sa Filipino but also hindi rin nito personalidad at salita
napatunayan ang sarili nating ng mga pilipino.

Sang ayon naman ako sa pag alis ng
asignaturang Filipino, Hindi sa ayaw ko sa
subject na ito kundi dahil ito ay dagdag sa
pagpapagaan ng mga gawain namin bilang
Isang college student. Naituro nadin naman
ito sa mababang antas ng paaralan at
naririnig ito kung saan saan sa bansang
pilipinas

Maaaring may mga kaunting epekto ito sa
aking pag aaral katulad ng hindi na namin
napapag aralan ang sariling lenguwahe,
ngunit madami din naman ang naging
advantage nito para saakin dahil mas
nabawasan ang aking mga gawain at mas
napadali ang pag aaral.
